I fed my beardies some mealies and crickets yesterday afternoon and went out shortly after, I left their light on overnight which i never do as i stayed out and came home this morning, and they all looked quite tired, my little yearling girl had vomitted- would this be because i just gave her old house mate to my friend and shes sad, because she over ate or because i left the light on overnight? I know they dont sleep well when lit and heated but I didnt want them to get cold with full tummies! I just gave her a few worms as she was interested, and 2 mils of water.. shes normal colours for her and alert, all fine besides doing her sleepy face! Its quite hot here at the moment being brisbane in summer, that could also be a factor..

its probably not a good sign what ever it is:(
should put them to bed early tonight;)

would keep an eye on her and duck down to the $2 shop should be able to get a timer for your lights for few dollars ea thats what i use however i rigged my uv and heatlamps upto the same power cord so it is all on the 1 plug,

also try feeding only morning and arvo so they do have the time needed to digest i dont think 1 night of short digestion time will matter but if it becaumes a habbit im sure itll cause problems,

i find beardies are pretty hardy and will allow you to make mistakes however if those mistakes become habbits you will end up with one very sick or possibly dead dragon.

just my 2c and oponion gl if all else fails a trip to the vet will ease your mind alot

thats true to 1isse didnt tink of that i dont feed them to my beardies, tho i have read if there freshly malted there not so bad...... and usually they would cause impaction form what i have read not vomiting however that dosn't mean they cant cause vomiting as i do know if a human gets to backed up it comes out the other end... was rather embarasing for my cousin lol so in saying that have your beardies or the particular one that vometed been going to the toilet regularly?? can be hard to tell if you keep them together.

she has been, everyone ive spoken to has said its ok to give them mealies in small ammounts- she usually goes for them, crickets and bok choy as well as grass and clover ;) (not oxalis) she did a poo this afternoon and i ran and got her some nice fresh bok choy, shes looking good :) thanks guys, as a vet nurse im trained to panic at the smallest things, but unfortunately brisbane clinics mostly deal with cats and dogs so not much extra training on exotics except in own time! (which i do and love ;) ) i just dont want my bubs hurt or sad!

Possibly just over ate. What do you mean when you say you gave her 2mls of water? And what is the basking spot temp?

How many mealies did you feed her? It's quite normal for a beardie to vomit if they have over eaten, they tend to be gutses when getting live food.

wally76-basking spot is at 39degrees celcius, by 2 mls of water i mean i measured it in a syringe and dripped in on her nose and she happily drank 2mls exact :)
tahneemaree- she had more than usual, she tends to do that when i feed her with the bigger guys, i think to show them shes a big girl too :p shes growing very fast at the moment!

she just had a cuddle and more bok choy=happy baby :)

Opportunistic feeders they are. Keep eating while it's there and deal with the consequences later.

My beardies sometimes vomit when they've had a big gutfull of worms, although mine get superworms, rather then mealworms. Just try and limit how many they have in one meal.

haha bubba yes i think she should be fine you can alway bump the temps up a little i have pygmys which like it a tad hotter then the larger species however i dont think turning the temp up for a few days will do any harm as long they still have a good gradient.

:D looks covered. I was going to say, my female frequently over-ate and would spit up a couple of extras until I caught onto it and started limiting the meal to approx how much she kept down. :) She was especially fond of mealies so I would have to be careful not to let her gorge. lol
