My Woma's enclosure :)
I will keep him in small click clacks etc while he is small but I want to build an adult sized enclosure but I have a few questions..

1) Does 1200L, 500H AND 500W sound big enough?

2) What should I make it out of?
I like the look of white melamine I think it looks clean and tidy, I also don't mind wood grains but nothing to dark. Can anyone suggest an affordable material to make it out of?

Also where could I pick up the vents from? Can you buy them just at Bunning or somewhere like that? I can put my own lights in I've done it with all my other tanks so that's no problem.

Any other information would be great!

i think a 900 would be a minimum. i read someone put their woma in a 900x600x600. forgot who it was. im gonna get a 900 long for my woma later. light wood grain too. people say you can buy vents in bunnings. and i gotta figure out how to do the lights for mine later. woo excited =).

When my tanami woma gets to an adult it will have 1200 x 600 x 600.
And yes bunnings is great for vents, even bathroom places are just as good

so you think 900x600x600 would be okay?
i dont want to squish him :D i have been looking around at some enclosures online and theyre not bad pricing the only thing is if they are too far away its no good.
thanks for the advice:)

Oh now I'm just confused. My first thought was 1200, 900 seems okay too though. Could keeping him in a 900x600x600 cause him any problems?

What locality is it? Im sure the smaller womas would be fine. But the larger localities might get a bit cramped. Im sure it would be fine, but imo if possible i always provide as much room as possible

you can buy white melamine at bunnings real cheap. i'm half way through making my 4 bay 1200x600x600 enclosure. im using ply wood, and will have a lacquer finish (on inside anyway).

getting my vents from a reptile store.

hoping to get a couple of womas in my enclosure to, along with the beardies :D

Hi There, We make all our own enclosures. our Womas are in enclosures 1200 x 600 x 600 and very happy. We go to our local cabnet hardware specialist for the melimine as they often have a supply that cant be sold as full price usually on delivery the top and bottom peice cant be sold as they have a few little marks on them but doesn't matter if your decorating a cage lol :D these are 1200 x 600 and they are half the price of bunnings, however the vents, edging, and glass door runners all come from bunnings. the glass we get from the scrap yard (pick ones with no scratches and cracks ) and take it to our glass cutter, he cuts it to size for $2 per cut. We make two enclosures at a time and less then half the cost of one enclosure.:D

Tanami :)

Bunnings sell aluminium vents , silver or white , about 4 x 6 inch for a reasonable price . Dont use plastic as it gets brittle after a few years and brakes easily . 1200 is best for anything other than Olive or Scrubby . Some people try to justify smaller cages but the rule is at least half the adult length .

Don't use bunnings. give Mr ply and wood a call or janda. they cut to EXACT size bunnings can be anything up to 5mm out. i just built a 1800 x 600 x 1200 high 2 bay and it cost me $80 for the cut white melamine and that was 6 sheets.
Use peg board as the backing and you do not have to worry about cutting vents and they breath really well on the hot days we get in qld.
hope this helps

Can anyone tell me how much a sheet of melamine 2400x1200 would cost at bunnings and mr ply?

i found mr ply literally twice as expensive as bunnings down here. mr ply was $92 (trade price) for a sheet of 2400x 1200. but that was for black melamine. prices up there may be different. i agree not to let bunnings cut it. cutting it yourself is easy enough if u have a special melamine blade, it will give you a perfect edge if your careful. if you do buy from bunnigs they usually stock a variety of pre cut sizes (which are accurate). i think they will have 1200 x 595 and 1200 x 445, so buying a few sheets of that is probably your best bet (depending on prices ofco****), as itll knock the cuts your have to do down to 3 or 4.

bunnigs i got all the sheets i needed (1800 x 595) x 3 + (1800 x 295) x 1 for $96.....
i think for a sheet of 1200 x 595 you would pay about $20 - $25 in white at bunnings

well if i want a 900x600x600 would these be the right sheets to buy (im no expert carpenter)-

900x600 - x3 - BASE, BACK, TOP
600x600 - x2 - BOTH SIDES
do you think bunnings would have these pre-cut?

then possibly some off cuts for the front , glass track, glass, vents, etc

Nah you just buy the long sheet then ask for it to be cut
I think its really really cheap

but i dont want bunnings to cut it all demented if they are 5mm out of whack my sheets wouldn't line up properly would they.... then it would be stuffed and it'd have to start all over again :|
