Lol im pretty sure their "Trained Staff" will be able to cute to the dot.. lol id be more worried that i would cut it out of whack

hmmm. but one of the guys before said its because of their cutting blade. i dont mind if i lose 5mm on each bit but they would still have to be even for me to be able to build the tank properly.
i guess if they stuff up they would have to do it again... cant expect us to pay for their mistakes can they

it is not there trained staff it is the cr@py saws they use. if you use mr ply and would they will even do the edging for you. you just tell them what sides you want done. i personally use the iron on stuff.
Pay the bit extra and go to a profesional store not bunnings. bunnings may be cheaper but in the long run you will pay with an out of square cage.( i made that mistakemyself) if you get all the sizes cut properly it litrally takes minutes to screw together and is perfectly square.

Just purchased my first snake, nice Diamond (yay), and I'm going thru the same thing about building an enclosure.
My local Bunnings has the 595mm by 3200mm white melamide for $26 a sheet which seems a very good price.
Pretty handy with woodwork, so will be cutting etc myself. (apart from getting it small enough to fit into the car....)

Well put it this way. I have 2 hatchy BHP'S which are about 1.2 meters long now. I have built 1200L x 600W x 600H (4ft x 2ft x 2ft) cages for them. I used melamine 2.4 x 1.2 sheets from Mr Ply, luckily the sheets where 2020L x 1300 W so i could cut a bit of to get rid of the crappy edges. Cost me $33 per sheet for all the wood, and $60 for 6mm thick glass with polished edges and all that fansy stuff. I use the melamine backing but i think i will swap to peg board for my next cages. Glass tracks where like $10 from bunnings.

snakemadness THANKYOU! Exactly what I was looking for. I will ring My Ply tomorrow and just see if there prices have changed or not.
Thanks:D

Well umm i actually know the guy who owns it so i got a cheaper price (same as bunnings) not sure i think its about $80 to get all cut. Get them to put it together (like drill and put screws in).

thats okay, ill ring a few places anyway an compare.
what do u mean put it together? would they actually cut and assemble the whole thing for me?
i can assmble it myself its just cutting the stupid melamine i need done :D

If you get professionals to cut for you, they usually have good sliding saws and setups to give a nice straight, perpendicular cut. It's more accurate than using your backyard table saw (which I did anyway...). I used white melamine from Bunnings and white aluminium eaves vents. They come in a pair, so I put one outside and one inside so I didn't have to look at ugly holes in melamine. Pegboard option is good, too. Just depends on your climate at home. Bunnings also carry melamine glue, which is a nice addition to your screws or biscuits holding it together.

I have used bunnings stuff, they always cut it wrong. even the pre done sheets are out. I have bought there a few times..

Great Idea for anyone starting an enclosure building project:

I have just started renovating my large "mansion" for my coastal carpet. I came up with the idea after my awesome boyfriend (works at Mitre10) came home with not one, but THREE unwanted bathroom vanity units! I was so happy!! I am turning one of the 1200mm units into Akasha's home for when she grows (she is only a baby). All I had to do was take out the shelves, drawers, etc. Now that Ive gutted it out, I plan to install glass stliding doors at the front, pegboard at the back, and intall the light fitting, etc at the top.

I think bathroom vanities are the perfect size, and the good thing is that you dont have to build it from scratch....and I have 2 left over if anyone wants them...
