Hey all! well im getting my first snake (sw carpet) in 3 days time. I have been told to use "distilled" water for the snake. Well in this case i was wondering if i can use spring water? We have a lot of it in bottles because its the only water dad drinks. Please any help on which way with the water i should go, please post it!

Thanks in advance
Shane :D

Can I ask why 'distilled' water? I am very curious!! As for distilled and spring water- I think it is all the same, ie It is bottled. I hope that helps.

Hey shane probably shouldnt use distilled water if you read the bottle it says not for human consumption,so if i wouldnt drink it maybe the snake shouldnt. Also distilled water has no trace elements in it unlike bottled water.

Cheers MatE

We give ours water from Brita filter jug. Stops the inside of the bowl from going slimy.

Thanks everyone for the advice!

I was given this advice from a member on this site. So i was just wondering if i should use it or not

Just use the spring water. :) I use rainwater for all of mine (have a tank)

I just use the water out of the filtered tap. Snakey aka Imogen seems to be doing just fine.

I just use tap water, havn`t had any complaints from my animals! :)

I have to confess, I use an under sink filter for all our drinking and cooking water, and my snake/s all get it. I have found it doesn't go slimy on the inside of the dish... BUT I didn't know that is was the 'norm'. I actually got the filter because I had a glass of water sitting on the bench and saw how much sediment there was!!

Shane, if it's clean enough for you to drink then it's ok for a python. you use distilled water to fill batteries, not pythons:rolleyes:

Cheers

Thanks guys a lot! Now I don't have to waste money on buying distilled water and just use spring water or sum filtered water from my water filter in the fridge.

Cheers Shane

Hey Shane... I would not use is cold water... let it warm to room temp first. I don't know if it is bad for the snake or not, but I know my daughters get stomach pains from cold water, so I wouldn't put it in with the snake cold.

my diamond loves fresh cold tap water, as soon as you change it (every couple of days) it comes down for a drink :)
