Hi all,

I am currently feeding my Albino Darwin regular adult mice at around 40-45 grams, and rats of about the same weight.

My local supplier of frozen foods does not usually stock quail, but i am keen to try Sway on a bird or two, and am not sure what size quail to ask them to order for me.

Can anyone help me out with an appropriate size of quail for my Darwin? What approximate weights are each of the different quail ages?

Thanks in advance,

Horn20

Go to www.Rodentfarm.com.au and you will find the quail sizes and feeding recommendations. Our quail are Japanese Quails but weight for age can vary by 100 % depending upon strain.i would probably get 2 week old Quail.

Is there any benefits for feeding quail over mice/rats?

Horn20, In regards to your enquiry about the Quail, we have a member here from Port Macquarie with the handle Bart70 who breeds Quail specifically for the feeding Reptiles, i am sure if you contact him via PM (personal message) he will give you all the info you require. :) ..................Ron

ronhalling, no worries. unfortunately I don't think Bart delivers and Port is a long way from Muswellbrook. Rodentfarm offers the convenience of to your door service. As I wrote size for age of Quail varies significantly between breeders with Jumbo Jap Quail being twice the size of the run of the mill Jap quail.
