I have been saving for one as my beta is playing up. Does it come with one of those fancy cordless remotes?
Hey, my childhood VCR had a CORDED remote control.

In all seriousness. They are great for kids. Cheap videos at opshops and they dont get scratched up by kiddies the way DVDs do!! My brother loves it if we give them (his kids) VHS instead of DVD. And, yep. I still have to record to video. No PVR here. Just a DVD/VCR combo unit (at the time, it was the future).

Oh god, yes. DVDs are not kid-friendly. Dirty paws and careless nails can ruin one in 30 seconds flat.

I think the title of this thread should be "what to do with rubbish" and the answer is put it in the bin

The throwaway mentality in modern-day society frustrates me. If it's working I'd much rather find it a good home; if it isn't, I'll try to recycle it before dumping it in the bin. I like the idea of giving it to a kid.

Um, am I the only one who still sets up the VHS to tape stuff of TV to watch later?

I think I probably did this a lot longer than a lot of others. Now that there's iView and I no longer watch a lot of TV, the VHS isn't all that important anymore.

Funny you say that. We went to an op shop one day and my 9 year old found a type writter. Well you should have seen her face after I explained that this use to be like a computer many many years ago. I couldn't stop laughing after she asked - so which button do I press to get to google!!!!???
