The "remote security code" is probably a code that he needs to enter from a separate phone so he can check his messages on his home phone. I'm guessing just an extended holiday/break from computer land.

I've got about 6 of his Reptile books that he lent me while I was laid up with my fractured kneecap. Want to return them when I go to Adelaide next week. I'll keep trying his home number up till Monday and see what happens. Cheers Cheryl
