I was wanting to know which wattage bulb and what brand for a 3x2x2 enclosure for my spotted python.I only have a basic thermostat so if that fails i dont want to fry my snake so what wattage would i use to not burn my snake?

use the one that gives you about 33 degree hot spot when not plugged into the thermostat.... it will depend on the type of encosure and how well it holds its temps also airflow and whether its in a hot or cold room.... lots of factors.
if its a timber box with sliding glass doors start with a 40 and see how it goes cause they hold there temps well. if its a glass tank with mesh lid ike the URS or exoterra terrariums you'll likely need a higher wattage cause the heat will escape through the roof more.

I'd go with a 40W moonlight. (In mid winter go to a 60 W but check it with your thermometer) Get a thermometer & place it on a rock near the globe. 34C is a good temp to aim for, that way snakey can sit on the rock (which will heat up & give off heat too) to get really warm & wander off when he/she gets too hot. And provided you don't turn the globe off, he/she wont touch it & burn itself. I heat all my enclosure this way & it seems to work for them.

Go for a low wattage, then continue raising the wattage by buying different globes until you get the desired temperature. As Jason said, there are too many variables for us to simple tell you which wattage when we don't know where you are (for ambient temperatures), your house set up and the fluctuations that it causes in temperature. Then, your enclosure design, materials, etc., etc.

thanks for that, the shop suggested 2x75watt night heat globes which we bought, will prob use only one as the thermostat is constantly turning on and off so with go with that. Have set up enclosure, have the click clack inside the enclosure to get it used to the surroundings till its bigger. appreciate the help
