I've taken a couple of good bites across my fingers, felt like they were slammed in a door, nice bruising.

Yeah i got one!!!

If anyone needs pick up just read the post in General herps named "Successful balloteers".

I GOT ONE..... I GOT ONE..... I GOT ONE..... I GOT ONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TALK BOUT POT LUCK SOMEONE ELSE PULLED OUT......

YOU LITTLE BEAUTY :)

AS YOU CAN TELL I AM A LITTLE EXCITED !!!!!!!!!!

I had a great day yesterday. Neil came over and confirmed my female is a she and not just masquerading as one. (Nothing worse to try to breed your animals with 2 males huh Jonny?) My uncle has taken my plans and is going to build my 6 new tanks in the next couple weeks.
Recieved a phone call from Jeff, (Thankyou good sir) and wrote a letter to upgrade my licence.
Something will have to go wrong today somewhere just to even out the universe.

Do folk offer their shinglebacks water just once or twice a week for a few hours to keep humidity low? an otherwise not have water in there, or just have less water in the cool end?

Inny, i got a pair yesturday and im struggling to get the humidity down below 50%. NO water bowl, and i even have a closet camel moisture remover in there. Still no joy! Im using BC and have a flouro running uva/uvb. Any tips on getting it below the recommended 30-40%??

Cheers, Alan.

Heat from below and more ventilation im guessing Al. Im gonna try a extra large tub, with sand or dry euchy mulch substrate.(no lid) If that dont work, ill swap with the blueys enclosure, i cant get that ABOVE 40% for tryin! What have got em in?

Vent on side at bottom 60mm x 450mm stainless mesh with vent on top at back 60mm x 600mm stainless mesh.
On newspaper because BC KILLS. Also harbours bacteria.
Heat light in corner under platform to give radiant heat and heated surface. this also creates an upward airflow through the vent.
water once a week or more if they ask for it(which they do though not verbally).
(This is what mine were in before. Ive moved them to something similar only bigger.
Height of the enclosure may be a contributing factor.)

Cool thanks guys, i'll give that a crack.

They are in a malamine enclosure, as seen at the wildlife expo. 3x2x2.

Just a THANKS to Jeff, I haven't seen my girl yet, my mum just called to tell me how cute she is and how much she's eating etc etc... Was it you handing them out this afternoon? My dad went in to pick her up for me (big guy, beard.. like many herpers I've met actually ;))

32 people left the NPWS office quite happy this afternoon.

There were a few that wanted females, preferably gravid, for example. But hey! What do you want for nicks? We didn't attempt to sex them this time - so the successful balloteers were handed a pot-luck bag. Happy herping.

Good stuff, thanks Jeff.

For all those that i picked up for, i have some HUGE shingles waiting here eagerly for you! They are dining on some fruit salad and beef and veges cat food and havent argued yet!

Thankyou Jeff! :D

Sherm, Ive decided he/she is not going in with the bluetongues. After closer inspection/comparison,
it looks a bit too risky. Its not going in the exxy tub either, humidity was 53% without the lid or water, so its going in the blues enclosure instead where it can have a decent water bowl all the time and the humidity wont go above 40%.
Shame to evict the blues but they will be ok in the tub till i can find another enclosure!

Cant agree more Greebo, but it was fortunate for someone else! :D Bright side to everything !
