Hi, i have 2 Coatal Pythons housed togeather, i bought them as a pair, and they are around 18 months old.
I have a heated room that theyre housed in, and whilst free roaming, one has escaped. A small crevace where the carpet joins under the door- had now been covered in.
Im wondering, if a snake that has been housed in 29degrees heat, would be interested in trying to get outside.I was hoping after last night(the 4 night missing-with no sign), that she may just hang around the warm house.
Just wondering if anyone would like to comment on escaped snakes and the percentage of recatpured or never seen again.
The snakes are well fed, but im not sure what will happen now shes not in her enclosure in the room.
Was whoping if anyone has had this happen, because the sudden drop in temp, will she be more inclineds to just hibernate somewhere in the house now until after winter.?
Any help or similar situations or experiences, i would love to hear whats happened inyour case.Cheers

Typing 'lost' and/or 'escaped' snake into the search function in the top right hand corner will give you all the threads where people have lost snakes in similair circumstances..... you may get some ideas on ways to coax it back
Good luck :(

yer, tried all the cornflour across doors food item in bottle ect, im more concerned she may of climbed out a window, or 'wandered out' before we realised, and also regarding hibernation, cant find much there either.Just trying to 'think' like a snake was my best advice,-hmm, my snake phycology isnt up to scrath, im only a learner. Thanks mate. Thanks for your time and consideration. and please...-have a nice day if possible, -cause im not;-( Cheers, my snakes are like my own babies and i keep thinking my baby little girl is out there in the cold somewhere.(Yes i do realise shes cold blooded), but imso worried , she would be lonely and missing her brother.

similar happened to my stimmi recently only i think he managed to get though a vent into the gap between the double bricking :( and its damn cold in that gap, i have put food and heat out but still no joy, i only hope hes warm and ok and comes out to where the house is warmer.i wish you the best of luck in your search also

have you tried leaving a warm rat out near its encloser or do you this your coastal has goten out of the house thers lors of info on here about lost/escaped snakes

my diamond esacaped from an enclosure in the garage and i found it a week later in the house trying to eat our bird.

while i dont condone live feeding in general, maybe u can try a live mouse in a birdcage near where it escaped,....(or bird,...)
just something that stays warm, moves and smells delicious,....

good luck with finding ur snake, the 2 times i lost mine i found him within a 24 hour period, while he was active and moving around at night. first time in a room opposite his, going down the back of a tallboy, the other time he stupidly poked his nose out from an invisible crack under the oven, i grabbed the inch that was showing and slowly managed to retrieve him.

Yer thanks, was really wanting to know about what the drop in temp will do, seeing as were half through winter, im wondering is sahe more likely to hange around the house (where its warm), or is it kinda instinctual that they tried to escape outside. They have been hand risen since few months old.
After 5 nights im starting to get 'fretty'.
Thanks any help.

When mine escaped in winter, I think he hung around the house for a few months before heading outside. It's a good thing in it's own way. It (hopefully) gives you more time to lure her back with heat and food before she decides she can brave the big bad world in spring. I would assume she's still somewhere in the house, and trying to stay warm, so look in all the usual places - hot water system, fridge etc. And I would also be putting out some heat, and (like Chris, I don't usually condone, but...) a live food source. Then stay up late, turn the lights out, grab a torch, and wait...

Good luck.

with the torch, get some red celiphane and put it over the light so the snake cant see the light..

THANKS ALL.Found the missing snake. My son was cleaning up his room, and she was just coiled up on the floor, under material. She felt damn cold and stiff, after a day or 2 should be ok.YAY!!
