Hey Guys....

I do plan on taking him to the Vet to get him checked out... But over the past few days I have noticed his forked tongue... Is somewhat stuck together.... ( It did used to be forked.. )

He also seems to drag his tongue along the front of the glass......

He is in a 4ft X 2ft x 2ft Melamine enclosure... With a Ceramic Heater down one end...Set during the day to get to around 31 degree's.... And on the Cooler end.. He has a Kitty Litter Tray half full of water....to drink or Bath in...

Anyone got an opinion to what it might be?? Or something I could change to fix it up???

Just chasing ideas before I take him to the Vet... Thanks in Advance :)

Rick

Toungue sticking together is sometimes a sign of RI, but at this time of year?

Is he eating ok? Might be worth bumping the temps up a bit?

Yeah Hammers the food every 10-14 days that I give it to him....

He's about 6 ft... 4 yrs old.. And feed them one medium/large rat every feed....

I have no idea, but would like to know when you find out, as I have two Coastal hatchlings that have been doing this since they hatched, and they have not eaten yet.

Mangles - I assume they are this years Hatchies.....

I have 2 Hatchies out of 13, not feed.... But I havent noticed their tongue... Will have a look tomo when they are out...

Yes , they are new hatchies. They were the last to hatch and were very slow to come out of the egg. One I had to remove from the egg a few days after pipping. There was also another that was fully formed but dead in the egg.
I have 4 (including these 2) out of 17 that have not fed yet, but all the others look healthy.

Don't know if it is the same thing as you have, but it sounds exactly the same. When they flick their tongue, there is no fork as this appears to be sticking together, and quite often the tongue will not go back in and just hang out.

I had this same problem with my darwin, i just bumped her temps up a bit and she came good. Funny thing was all my bredli at the same temps were unaffected.

I also had a similar problem with a Darwin. She had a normal folked tongue, and then around 18ths old it stopped being folked and stuck together, but in all other aspects she was fine. After a month or two it went back to normal. I spoke to a few reptile vet specialists and they didn't know the cause, but like I said it came good on it's own and she had no other problems. If he is not showing any other signs of RI and eating fine then just monitor him and see how it goes, if you are concerned though take it to a vet.
