Hey all,
I have a number of greentree snake hatchlings ...
My problem is what to feed them as they are soooo small...
they are about 3 days old... so need to sort this out ASAP
any help would be good
Regards
George

Feeder fish are a good size still they are large enough to take the smallest pinky you can get hold of. Another method is to use the limbs of pink mouse, the bigger the limb the better.

thanks for the replies ... i will get some feederfish this arvo ... because wont be able to get to pet shop till next weekend otherwise ...
do i need to "forcefeed" or should they take the feeder fish by themselves ..if so do i put the fish in shallow dish with water or ????
cheers

At 3 days there's nothing to worry about, as somebody said earlier, they'll still be finishing off nutrients from the egg, and most likely not even hungry yet.

Put the little fishies in a bowl of water in the enclosure, keep track of how many go in, so you'll know if they've eaten any :)

Still, it's probably a little early to be offering them food at all, their metabolism is higher than a python, but not that high :D

theres no rush to feed them. they will still have yoke from the egg. its best to leave them for a few weeks to get rid of all the yoke and it will be easier to start them feeding if their hungry. its best to have them somewhere quiet and to try feeding them at night. have some pinkie mice that you can warm up and try them 1st. if their not interested in the pinkies then try the feeder fish. use forceipts holding the fish by tail tail

Have they had their first shed yet? I would probably wait abit longer and then try, dont do too pushy or worried just yet.

When its time you can try a few different methods. Some have had success using the shallow bowl in the way you mentioned, some may take it if offered like people do with pinkies, the ones that dont Ive done what I do with elapids annoy them with it till it bites and hangs on to it. Then as the less prefered and most stressful forcefed, but you are awhile off before considering this just yet.

Are you sure?, gts are most assuredly diurnal, I would think trying to feed at night might stress them.
Admittedly though, I've never tried feeding mine at night, have you had success with the method?
