I remember an episode of "Yes, Prime Minister" when the PM had an idea about reintroducing compulsory National Service. This would increase the armed forces while at the same time lowering unemployment. The idea fell through because the army refused to take any old riff-raff - something about contaminating Britains elite fighting forces.

I think the cops should have gone in hard on the first night, blocked off all streets and gone in from all directions. It annoys the crap out of me why they only march from one end of the street. They chould have had cops on both sides with shields and truncheons(?) and stormed the street. Move it or lose it attitudes and smashed everyone of those morons out there. Everyone should have been arrested that was caught in that street, thrown in gaol and slapped with a heavy fine.

I think the dole should be for a maximum of 3 months. So that those innocently (aged etc.) looking for a job can survive. If in 3 months you don't have a job and are under a certain age, whammo your in armed forces. Or, if they don't like it gaol.

:? Not everyone living in Macquarie Fields is a thug, it is only the Housing Commission area. You have to remember that there are people in there also that are living to what there means can afford. Then there are the pecker head quota, which you get everywhere, and they just happen to have the lime light on them and they think it is there given right to be ****holes because they are hard done by, which is crap. Sorry for the expletives, but I am tired of the bagging the good residents have to put up with because there is a quota of idiots. For people that are trying to make the best of a bad situation it is hell for them in this area, especially those trying to shield there children, you just need to rubber bullet and tear gas those in the streets being idiots and then those (like the dumb a** on 60 Mins last night) "come out and play", go in and shoot him, he is inciting a riot and should be charged. The stupid girls that call themselves the victims girlfriends, yeah right they looked real sad and I sure girls with their talents won't have any problems moving on.

Anyway, prattling on, those that live there because they have and are nice people I hope can benefit out of this in some way, those that are inbred and are d***heads need to be dispersed.. :twisted:

No one is having a go at the innocents involved. As those that are doing the right thing wouldn't be involved with the rioting. It is those that are doing the wrong that we have a gripe with. Just like Redfern, there are innocent ppl there too, but they are not the ones we are referring to. Only the mongrels that riot and get away with it. Makes the police look like a laughing stock.

Cops should be allowed to use more force and not take crap from these 'sick bro lads'. From the footage i have seen they just stand there and let the thungs throw cocktails and rocks. They should wip out the rubber bullets, the pepper spray, the batons and the water gun and show them who is boss.

Some people might say that this is to harsh, but how else are you goin to teach them. They won't sit down in some seminar and listen to how the coppers don't go out of their way to arrest them etc. One question i would like answered is, where the hell are there parents??

ok here's the thing if the cop's do take your suggestion of rubber bullets and pepper spray almost 99% of the time this results in more violence. trust me i have been around way to many soccer riots. and know from first hand experience as soon as the cop's show up it turns ugly. the best thing they can do and is stated in there hand book is to wait it out or use force where it is needed. and by the looks of it they are doing just that.

It's not really a situation where you can just sit back and watch the show. People will get hurt and things will just get out of control. The cops were there doing their job, which was to find the driver of the car etc.

Hammers supporters arn't aggressive.... Mind you, in my younger days in the UK. The 21 squad was developed and they used to meter out some solid discipline. The cops should attend these situations and the news media should be banned, that way, if there is any accusations of excessive force. It is the word of the police against the perpetrator's and we all know that police dont lie........ :roll:

Yes Ginajam01, I absolutely LOVE the Eagles!!! I saw them in the early '90's in Winnipeg, Canada. Don Henley is pretty superb!
