I am planning on purchasing my first beardie quite soon (if I can find someone selling hatchies or young beardies in Sydney, which im finding quite difficult atm) anyway.. back to my point

I just have a few questions

1. how many hours should I be leaving my UV lights etc on for?... Ive read about 12 hours, but just confirming.
2. Is a night light nessecary, I live in sydney and in the summer it can be quite hot, its quite cold now as it is winter...Ive heard they arent essential, but Im thinking of getting one just for the winter, whats your opinion on this?
3. Central or eastern?.. your opinion.. keeping in mind im a first time reptile owner

4. Cleaning schedules, like how often the tank should be cleaned?... minor cleans and major cleans
5. Best type of Veges and insects for a bearded dragon in your opinion

Last but not least, does anyone know of anyone selling hatchies or young Bearded dragons in the Sydney Area?

Thanks for your help, Josh

1. how many hours should I be leaving my UV lights etc on for?... Ive read about 12 hours, but just confirming. up to 14 hours summer, down to 8or9 in winter
2. 3. Central or eastern?.. your opinion.. keeping in mind im a first time reptile owner frist time i say central. plus they have more colours and have a more even temperament. they also tolerate handling quite well.

4. Cleaning schedules, like how often the tank should be cleaned?... minor cleans and major cleansspot cleans when ever u see poo, and maybe change the substrate entirely once a month. sand is good for beardies they love to dig :)
5. Best type of Veges and insects for a bearded dragon in your opinion they will love crickets and cockroaches, as well as pretty much any vegies, but apparently spinach is not so great because it has a bad protein to phosphorus ratio or somthing like that. type in beardie diet or something in google and u will get some good results. they will eat pretty much any veggies and fruit.

Last but not least, does anyone know of anyone selling hatchies or young Bearded dragons in the Sydney Area?
unfortunately it is not hatchy season right now. some ppl might still have a few left over but most will not be around till it gets warmer :) about november december.

Thanks for your help, Josh
