Ok i have a theory...
situation is that i will be purchasing my first juvenile woma is about a months time.
Now instead of going all out like i had done with my jungle hatchie and buying her
a nice big enclosure and throwin her in that straight up with all the room that she
wants...
I'm taking the more conservative approach with my woma and putting him in a click
clack first until outgrown. (reason being im taking peoples advice).

Now i went and organised the click clack today, its a perfect medium sized one that
will suit well. but my question is.... instead of buying a heat mat for it (which i will
end up doing if my theory seems crap!), i was thinkin if i could put the actual click
clack inside my jungles enclosure and use the temps inside there??

the clickclack will of course be sight proof in or out, and also child proof.... i spose
my concerns are the senses/smells of snakes...

anyways, sorry bout the huge read, but wanted to be clear with everything.

appreciated ;)

hmm interesting idea. i spse the fact that, womas especially, have an appetite for other reptiles, along with the frenzy they go into at feed time, the permanent presence of another snake will probably send the poor baby crazy. but also would having the click clack inside another enclosure provide a temperature gradient?

no idea about the gradient issue.... :S
i have a little seperate thermometer for the clikclak, but yeah with the feeding i would take the clicky out and feed outside and leave him for about n hr
or so. but yeah, when in hunting mode who knows what hes reaction may be.....

If your Jungles enclosure has a heat lamp, would the temps inside the tub get too hot?? Maybe a temperature gun could check that accurately?
Maybe set it up prior to getting your Woma and check, then re-check for a few days?

yeah good idea. lol, didnt even think of testing b4 gettin him lmao. :S
so i will deff do that for the tempetature issue, but if all goes well, there still just is that factor of havin 2 snakes inside the one enclosure (but not) lol.
sight is not an issue like said and breaking in/out not an issue. just the fact of another snakes smell i spose...

Why not just buy the twenty dollar heat mat?

edit: you could put half the click clack ontop of your jungles enclosure where the heat light sits as the warmth from the globe will make enough heat for the snakey.

I have two geckos ontop of one of my snake tanks, and a click clack with a juvi MD ontop of another snake tank. No heat mats required.

i have a small spotted in a click clack in my female coastals enclosure [ been in there for 10 months or so]
i feed all of my snakes on the same day , so as long as i feed the coastal first then i feed the spotted everything is fine .
i often see the costal ontop of the click clack , but i havnt seen either one trying to get to each other ,see pics below .
they are old pics but u get the idea , the click clack has holes everywhere now .

perhaps consider the whole quarantine issue first... and if you want to avoid a heatmat then go with a heatcord under a piece of slate or glass :)

wow, awesome jas. very interesting, and neat i must ad.
so do they not get aggressive in any way becoz they are see through? and how do the temps work?

and bfg, cash isnt an issue, i am not asking this coz im tryin to save a watermelon in my wallet ;)

nah neither one is aggresive to each other , the temp works pretty well . i did have to do fine tuning [ kind of why i have a temp gauge in the click clack ] but since i have done that when i first set it up i havnt had to adjust anything since .

cool. thanks jas.
i will get it up n running and see what the temps are like etc etc.

i just dont like the whole heat mats idea, dunno y, just my opinion. and also i like to have everything lookin nice aswell

hi no-two, i just put it ontop of it then, and much to my amazement it worked awesome! i really didnt think it would no way. it is currently sitting
at 27 degrees inside the clicky.
well i happy about that, and looks great!

i have my hatchling jungle in my coastals enclosure and my jungle strike at me tif i go to pick him up but never strikes or even seems to notice that the coastal is there. all you have to do is find the right spot in the enclosure where the temp is right for the hatchling. i mean if you go into most pet shops here in Vic they will have hatchlings in the enclosures stacked ontop of eachother and side by side, sometimes with other snakes in there too. so i dont see a problem in it at all

Cheers Addam

I have the same issue at the moment, But it's only temporary. I have put my python in a click clack and sit it on top of my heat lamp which is heating my enclosure for my other python. The heat lamp is in a metal cover - at the top there are small vents for heat to escape - the click clack is sitting on half to heat up - I think there was enough heat to produce gradient. But there wasn't when I had the click clack inside the enclosure - my python was hard up against the heat and couldn't get any closer.

They don't seem to bothered about each other scent.

1 is Antaresia (click clack) other is Moreila (enclosure with heat lamp).

ive been told that womas grow quite fast also. so maybe its an option to change them over?

I'm with Shooshoo, how do you know that your new snake is 100% healthy? You don't, there is no guarantee and is it worth the health of your current snake for the sake of not wanting to use a heat mat?
Apart from anything else I would think this would be your most important consideration.

i will be just sitting it ontop of the heat globes now. ;)
thanks all for the replies
