Thanks for replying, but I am happy to use the ceramic and have for about 8 years. Thanks again
Hi thanks for replying. I am located south of Sydney, so it does drop down in Temp. Heaps of sun and I have a wood fire that keeps the house nice. I have not had any luck using cords and mats in the past. Also over the years I have seen some damage from mats. My enclosure is build and just doing the finishing touches. My snake has always had the ceramic so she is used to it. I really just need some advise on how to work it out. Thanks again
Appreciate everyone replying. I am not looking at changing the heat set up as my girl is used to it, she was a rescue that had a horrible beginning and this will be her last enclosure in size. So I was hoping just for some advice on how to work out the wattage for the area. Thanks again
Ok mate If you're on the CHE bandwagon (like me) i will show you what I did with mine to make it work for me (up here in the tropics).
Keep in mind it works for me, its just one way of doing it, and you will probably have some commissioning and fine tuning to do.

I'm using one of these

I dunno if they are top notch or what but it does the job

My CHE is setup at the top of my place and the temp probe is very near it and the thermostat is set to 34deg
(See it dangling there behind my enclosed CHE)

My central vent is that tube there see. So hot air collects in the zone above the tube. This keeps the warm air in

The tube actually has a little 12v fan from Jaycar approx 40mm so it actually blows fresh air in when the Daylight is on. But because its on a tube it leaves the hot zone alone. So on the floor its indoor temp (about 26 to 27 up here) and up top its usually 31.9 to 32.5
I had a heap of time to build this and probably some of my methods arent considered orthodox. I'm using a 50w CHE but I reckon you will need more. But maybe by a 50w and see what goes on.
My viv is 6mm marine ply so probably has some insulation factor
Tell me what you reckon so far. I will answer questions happily. I can pretty much guarantee my setup isnt to everyones liking but it provides a good home to my A. Childreni and she uses all levels and locations
