how to make a million dollars selling reptiles start off with 2 million :D

i wouldnt open a store for a long time but want to start breeding from home. start easy with childreni and then progress on with more childreni and different snakes.

You should spend time and money doing some courses first up so that your learning starts first and your knowledge will get better as you become more confident with the animals you have. Then when you are ready to open your shop you will be equiped with expert-level knowledge and the best display that will show your customers that you care for your animals as much as the money.

Just one piece of advice - be really careful turning a hobby into a business. Call it WORK and you may find you'll get sick of it just like any other job. Then the animal's welfare becomes compromised because you don't want to bother. Business can cause heartbreak and wrong decisions when you are torn between making money and caring for your animals. Then you have problems when illness outbreaks in your collection and vet bills are not cheap. As good as anybody keeps their collection you can NEVER say it won't happen to you. It will, and it will cost you.

I am not saying you will be like this. But it can & does happen. Just remember if you go ahead, you are committed absolute every day to look after the animals best interests. Good luck with it! I hope it goes the way you want it.

so you think i should have a wholesale buisness instead of a shop.

yeah little dude in a shop you make your money in all the other stuff dogs fish rabbits products

no i want to have a REPTILE shop not a PET shop. sorry if i sound sarcastic. but i want to let the public come in and help the new people that want reptiles. it is good seeing someone happy with a reptile.

Unfortunately in Qld you can only sell Antaresia on a commercial licence as well as a few types of lizards and geckos, This would really limit the number and what type of animals you could sell in your shop. Reptile supplies would be the way to go, a one stop reptile shop with good prices. Most of the places i go sell things at a HUGE markup from what i pay on the net

you should make a whole sale shop, like you breed your stock, then you sell it for whatever you like, and you make almost %100 of what you sell it for.

im not sure what to do with school. reptiles is all i want to do. i would rather finish year 10 which is next year and by then i would probaly have some snakes. and i would have a job somewhre making money that goes straight into my pocket because of no bills cause im living at mum and dads but im sure there would be tax. and just do some courses on snakes that are availble and just keep goin with the snakes until i can do my little whoesalers business. but parents arent to keen on me leaving at the end of year 10. would the buisness be from home or would it be somewhere else. i dont have to worry about room for enclosures and other things like that

Go to year 12, unvi, then you can get degrees etc and can work with reptiles in a zoo if you really wanted (zoologist) then you can also breed snakes on the side or make a business like that... Well thats what I'm 'trying' to do lol..

Stay at school first.....it is not all animals in a reptile shop...you will have to know about tax etc...do a small business course as well.....

unless your only going to be selling childrens and stimmys and a few lizards i wouldn't bother, run it as a hobby, keep all the money tax free. Not just that but you'll end up spending tens of thousands of dollars getting breeding stock then have to wait 2 or 3 years before their old enough to breed all the while paying off bills because they won't stop coming in and thats before you even get to the enclosures. If you run it as a hobby you can buy and sell whatever you like on the rec licence, run it as a buisness and it limits you to the point where it really wouldn't be financialy viable, Just my opinion, i could be wrong :)

yeh i reckon. my favourite snake are black and gold jungles. i love the jet black and rich gold krauss ones. i would love to get them. i saw some jungles for 200 on herp trader and was begging parents but no. they did not let me get the bargain of the century.
