Can someone just confirm if these eggs are still good, they are at 50days but the eggs shell has never been perfectly white. All of them have some part that is sort of blacky grey and the rest white. when candled i can see a massive network of red veins top to bottom and a mass of something at the bottom (obviously the embryo)

I have attached pictures but could not capture the black area well except for in the blury one. they have all almost doubled in size and feel quite heavy.

in the blury pic the egg 2nd from the bottom on the right might be the best to see

thx in advance

cant tell from your pictures. depending on incubation temps it may take around 60 days to hatch. if their still good eggs ( lets hope) they will start to sweat a day or 2 before hatching

You might be surprised that they could be ok. I had one that was very obviously yellow from laying, and throughout incubation, and hatched, first. However it was deformed - well, it was missing a tail.

more pics better quality

had to stop being lazy and get the SLR camera out to get better pics here they are

calcium deficiency.

?

Thats what I was thinking.. if the female is low in calcium she makes "windows" in the eggs that look like that.

All my beardies get plenty of calcium

this was her first ever clutch and didn't really expect any to survive

looks more like the eggs are stretching to me, they are filling with water and stretching at the bottom because the moisture has weakened the shell, i got this in some stimo eggs that i had on peralite as well.

doesnt matter how much calcium they get, whether they get apropriate amounts of D3 as well...

whats your uv?

p.s. at 50 days, i would expect a large embryo, rather then a little bleep in the bottom.

well obviously she needs more then, will this affect survival rate of the eggs?

Given they are at 50 days and have veins?

considering each egg she lays need to have enough calcium, enough protein, enough EVERYHTING to produce a fully functioning healthy whole dragon.. yeh, this is why we offer plentiful calcium, D3, natural sun and a bucket load or two of food.

they have veins within the first few days. by day 50 i would expect to see a large almost fully developed fetus

It's more likely what helikaon said... If the female is in good condition she should have enough calcium... They look fine from what I've seen so they should hatch :)

repta glo 10 uv

thanks guys for your input

I know they should hatch around 60 days but I have heard it is possible to go longer closer to 70

unfortunately it is hard to find vermiculite here in melb at the moment all the pet stores are advising not to buy the bunnings stuff

I just hatched 4 clutches of beardie eggs using a perlite/vermiculite mix & had 100% hatch rate so the perlite should be fine IMO. I think helikaon is right & the transparency is caused by water stretching the eggs, don't quote me on this but I think calcium deficient eggs already have transparent windows when they are layed, & they don't form during incubation. Can anyone that has bred beardies tell me if thats correct?

That's what I've been told too. But Didn't hyper say they always were like that?

He said they were never completely white, not sure if he means they were already transparent?

egg shells thin when a hatchling draws calcium from the shell, like in chickens i would assume.

Could someone with more breeding experience answer this question? Sorry to take over your thread Hyper but I would like to know why it's happened too for future reference.
