Crickets really isn't that bad. Tried fried field crickets stuffed with peanuts when I was holidaying in vietnam few yrs back. Remembered it tasted like popcorn. Any how one of my three beardie hatchlings goes for the "fruit loop" pellets instead of the crickets I thrown in. Funny how the others run around chasing crickets while thus little guy just sits on the dish and attacks the pellets.

it does smell wholesome and fruity, my turts and hermit crab like it too as do blueys and stumpy, i havent been tempted to eat it though!

bags not trying a rat, i would try the beardie food tho no worries!

i have been dared to eat many different things (as a result i know what dog dry food tastes like)
come on now everyone try beardie food!

I know that some of Brian's customers at the Herp Shop have purchased SFR's for their own consumption. Certainly nothing that the SFR's eat before they are shipped (GR2 rat cubes and carrots) would indicate that as a food source they are anything other than quality protien! Just saute them in a little butter and Olive oil and server over mashed potato with side salad.

The ingredients in rat pellets are very similar to that which you may find in your average breakfast cerial.

As for the smell of Rep-Cal Bearded Dragon food it is probably caused by compounds called esters commonly found in fruits but easily made synthetically and used as food additives. The esters I mixed up in science class years ago included ones that smelt like Strawberry and Banana.

EAT IT!!!

it actually tastes a bit salty, nothing like it smelt anyway :(

you no your scraping the barrel when you eat lizard food :)

SW,

You should try mealworms next. They taste better salted.

bags not trying a rat,

I had three or four species of rat when I was in PNG. They taste better roasted, they have a BBQ-type taste to them - boiled rat is just too wet and bland for my liking.

:p

Hix

you know what?
i would try BBQ rat if done properly, just not defrosted, warm rat......or live

kinda, seen one swallowed but not by me. my limit so far has been set at a cricket.
