This is my first time trial of breeding Womas and am wondering if there is someone who wouldn't mind me calling them for advice in regards to when to place male with female etc ..... If you could leave your number through the private message box I would be grateful . I have found out that some woma breeders don't like helping as its more competition in selling the hatchings and I do appreciate that, ill probably stuff up the first time but I do know there are some who enjoy passing on their experience so others can get the same joy .... So if the latter can leave a message that would be great ... Thanks

there isnt really an exact time when. i havent bred woma but own one. i think breeding season starts may? u can always put sloughed skin in the others tank and see what happens. i know some people cool them over winter but i also kno so.e people who just put them together and they have bred. ultimately its up to your snakes if they are compatible or not. i have 2 jungles ive tried to breed have tried to cool them. seperate them not seprate them. but they just arent compatible. good luck

sounds like your male jungle has been friended we all know what happens then , or what doesn't happen i should say ;);)

Hi, me too.. I'd like some advice on breeding them as well please.

I don't know what the big secret is.
There will be subtle time changes between states and temps etc
But for myself being in QLD I start cooling end of apr-may and introduce animals end of may-aug/sep (while there's still interest being shown)
Key to success is healthy animals with good condition particularly with female as egg production takes a lot out of them and the cooling helps sperm production with males.
I rotate males 5 days in 2 day rest (others have different timings - it not precise rocket science) Hit you lighting Q's to the normal cycles you experience locally. Cooling doesn't mean shutting of all heat as it is required for metabolic function. I just turn off heat in the afternoon and back on in the morning.
That night time drop does the trick. This isn't a hard fast rule but works for my animals.

Your getting a bit late in the season as most of my females are gravid now but supervise some introductions and gauge their reactions

All the success. Others may want to share their successful methods its all about learning :)

I have one question for you, I know it is not vital to cool a female but does it have any benefits as far as breeding goes. I cool all my snakes after they turn 1 year and have not bred yet and won't for a couple of years but I was just interested in your opinion.

yommy is totally right.... Although my pair seem to de alot better with 2 days in, one day out...

All is going well by the look of things .. The female is twice as thick as the male . Been rotating him on and off , they still spend a bit of time together in her hide but he ends up sleeping under the news paper when it cools down at night . I take it you remove the male permanently when no time is spent together ? Bit hard to know when I'm at work if they pair up but at what stage does the male no longer need to be with her ?

you can leave him in with her right up until she prelays if youre not too sure its over or not. normally if its still on they spend a lot of time together. once its all done and dusted they seem disinterested. if hes sleepin outside the box then its probably over. if shes lookin a lot more plumper than normal then things are lookin good. good luck. what ever info you get from yommy is worth remembering

I believe the cooling period whilst good for sperm production in males are also a Q for the females to start follicle development all about the cycle of life :)
