I have ceramic fittings and globes in a multi-tier enclosure and I'm finding the floor of the enclosure above is getting very hot (in excess of 35oC). I've tried placing two sheets of cement sheeting between fitting and roof but floor is still pretty hot. I also tried attaching the larger porcelain fittings directly to roof but temp was still too hot.

I was hoping someone might have some suggestions to fix this problem.

Thanks

can you create an air gap between the enclosures by making up some spacers?, Or I've heard styrofoam works.

The enclosures are approx 80*60*60 and ceramic globes are between 60-100 watt. The unit has 3 bays on top of each. There is no gap between each enclosure i.e. the roof of the lower enclosure is the floor of the upper enclosure.

Try a few pieces of polystyrene sheeting. Should be fine for radiant heat, not so good for direct contact heat.

I originally tried one piece of cement sheeting, then tried two cement sheets approx 2*2" (as suggested in forum) with fitting screwed directly to them. The temp in upper enclosure was about 39oC directly above fitting and the snakes tend to avoid the area.
