my stimson has black ductpe had stuck ovr his face, i've pulled some off but theres some covering his eye and i dont want to rp that off with the tape, how can i get the tape off without hurting him?
all replies appreciated
:)

how did it come into contact with tape in the first place ?...stuck over its eyes ! i would take it to the vet as its in an awful spot on the snake and using some methods which are risky at the best of times on other parts of its body ...i wouldnt like to risk it with its eyes...

my girlfriend tried sticking a fake vine in the enclosurefor her stimson, it probably fell down whilst he was on it :\ poor little fella

use a very small amount of olive oil on the sticky side, work it into the tape and it should slowly release the tape. BE VERY CAREFUL DOING THIS!
Now for the cranky bit............ WHY THE HELL WAS THERE TAPE IN THE ENCLOSURE WITH THE PYTHON IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!!!!

You need vegetable oil. It neutralises the latex in the tape. Be very gentle. DO NOT PULL THE TAPE OFF.

And now you have learned a very important lesson about tape in snake enclosures.

Don't pull anymore of it off, take it to a vet.
You can tear off or damage its scales if you peel it off. I think oil can help get it off, but if its over the eye, its definitely a vet job

for starters you NEVER use tape of any sort that can come in contact with your snake ..and now sadly you can see why ....take it to the vet its your best option for the risk is a high one being over its eyes ....

vet for sure. wasnt there a thread recently and everyone said this is why you dont put tape in the tank

Wish youd come on this site sooner ghostie, youd have known then....duct tape & reptiles dont mix!

I used to get people come in the shop with this problem & the only thing ive found that works is sticky stuff remover, & a cotton bud..... make sure its the non toxic one.
I wouldnt be using it on or near eyes & mouth though....hopefully the snakes due a shed soon eh!

actually he only shed last week :\
thank you all for your replies, have an appointment wth a vet soon for him.

would it be possible just to leve the tape on till he sheds thus reducing the risk or could there be other problems with leveing it on. pewrsonally i cant see why anybody would think its okay to use tape in a snake enclosure. but hay such is life.

were you trying to make your stimson a gimpson, lol
how lame is my joke, please let me know.

The snake had to have its head amputated, but it should make a full recovery!! :D
