hey guys just a quick Q regarding a 6 month old spotted. he is about to shed soon and has been in his hide for the last few days and judging by his skin should be in the next few days. tonight however, is feed night. I know they dont hunt during sheds due to low visibility but should I at least offer him some food or just wait a couple of days till he sheds.

I would just wait till he sheds, it will also avoid him having to stretch his old skin over the lump of the rat.

Yes I agree, don't feed until he sheds. Feeding snakes isn't something that has to be on strict schedules. So just because you've missed tonight, tomorrow or a week or so, he isn't going to starve. Captive snakes get more than they ever would in the wild - animals certainly don't wait till Tuesday night and then go and dance in front of a snake. But the snakes are still alive so that is a good indication to us, just how well they do adapt with very little food. As soon as he has shed his skin, by all means, give him his food. Don't make him wait just because its the wrong day, but don't panic if you can't maintain your calender schedule.

But on the other hand you still can if you feel like you need tooo i did last time with my bredli and he shed straight after. Its up to yourself but doesnt matter too much as the others said they dont have to feed on there weekly or what ever scheduale...............

I was gonna mention what Kaaza said but didn't want to confuse discomat. But my bredli and olives don't care if they're eyes a blue. They will eat. I chose not to feed them, but sometimes I've lifted their hide and realised, "Oh you're gonna shed" but they have already smelt it and I don't have the heart to take it back.

thanks guys yeah he can handle the wait. changing feeding days isnt a prob for me anyways. and i will feed him once ive noticed he has shed.

one of my spotted will look dull, untill i feed her then she will shed straight after. she will just wait for me to feed her first?

well then if he hasnt shed by next tuesday i will feed him. that will make it 2 weeks without food. probably a little hungry by then
