HI there, i am a first timer in all aspects. I recently ( last week) bought a childrens python. I have bought a complete set up. My problem is the feeding, I bought a pinkie to feed him, I was told he has had them before and this is the size he is to eat.
I am concerned as this is the first time we have fed him and he has not eaten it. I dont know weather to offer him another one or if something is wrong how to find out.
I have bought a book on snakes ... clearly no help!
Could someone give me some ideas.. i read online about smearing the pinky brain over it but I think my level of ewwww is not going to see that happening.
thanks ;)

Double check all the temps, make sure it has a warm end of 32 celcius...Dont handle it till it is feeding...Give it plenty of hides..Once uve checked temps and givin it more hides, dont disturb it at all for a few days, then try feeding, i always feed of an evening too. Hope this helps.

It may just be its settling in Leave it for a week then try and feed it in VERY VERY DIM lighting.

No need to panic at this stage, its perfectly normal with new snakes, they have to settle into their new enviroment for a few weeks,in that time dont handle and disturb as little as possible, change water etc,but thats it for a few weeks. After that time make sure the pinky is warm and offer to your snake,if it doesnt take it,leave alone again for another week.Alot of snakes are going off their food as the cooler weather is approaching us quicker than usuall.Best of luck with your snake feeding...

try leaving the pinky in the enclosure with the snake overnight, i had the same problem, it worked the first time i fed one my hatchies good luck!
