Freighting food

Hey everyone,

With my new job I no longer live in sydney and don't have convienent easy access to rats.. I was wondering how one might freight rats out of sydney/melb/anywhere really? is it possible and who will freight them??

I am heading to sydney soon so it is possible for me to pick up a few but how would I keep them frozen for an approx trip time of 10-12hrs??

If no one has any ideas thats kool would anyone know of breeders in the dubbo region??

I would breed them given time however I don't live in a large place so they would be bred to close to the snakes imo (lol not that i'd know).. I don't want food crazy pythons all the time..

Anyway if someone knows of a post that this has been discussed recently could you link it for me?? (there are a few very old posts on this however no real solution was given in them)

While I do not have any snakes yet I don't want to be searching for a food supplier after I have them here (kinda dumb thing to do) so i am trying to sort out how I will be able to source everything I need for them keeping in mind I live just west of nowhere.

I'm sure one of the pet shops in town will have them. There's 2 in Bathurst so I would imagine Dubbo would too. If not, Bathurst is a lot closer than Sydney.

Every pet shop I've ever been into has them, even tiny ones in the middle of nowhere

dubbo does have them but at $12-$18 for a medium - large rat is a little pricey and pinkies are up to $2.20 each.. and they don't really have bulk quantities.. all up there is about 10 snakes between us that need feeding varying from hatchy to 2.5yrs old...

I was looking to get bulk as dubbo is still a 6hr drive round trip and thats the closest town with a pet shop....

I thought I had seen a for sale post that freighted the rats and now I know who it was!!
