How do you clean the enclosure when it's decent size...water etc?

depending on what you call a decent size. you take the animal out, clean the enclosure, put the animal back in. if your not capable of handling it, you shouldn't be owning it.

if the crocodile is bigger then say 2 and a half meters, the enclosure should be big enough to be able to go in there with it and clean, and have someone keeping an eye on the animal so you know where it is at all times. or you have two sections to the enclosure with a door in the middle so you can close it off in one section while you clean out the other, and visa versa.

damn im jeolous,i wish i could have a freshie:evil:...i think they are illegal in qld?ahh well

The only breeders are croc farms.
Contact Crocodylus park in the NT, they pretty much always have young ones for sale.
The person I got mine off just sold the last two the other day.

did you end up getting the 6x3x3?
I got some quotes for big tanks when i need to upgrade and the prices were rediculous. Im just going to use the bottom third of a rainwater tank in a spare room when I need to upgrade.
I cannot justify spending a few thousand dollars for a big glass tank.

yer me either. its easier to build an enclosure or get, as you said, an old rainwater tank. glass companies would pay hardly anything for the glass but they sell it to us with prices through the roof.

I have brought a 6x3x3 for the first two years and that was only 800 on a stand with heaters, filters and lights. Then i have a 10x4x3 tank that should last a fair while till i build my 10mx6m shed so im pretty prepared at the moment

i brought it from a pet shop a while ago now it was an old disply tank, but came with all new filters, heaters, rocks, logs and gravel. The 10' was 1000 for just the tank but its 16mm glass so should be pretty safe.

how much land area are you going to have in there? When I got my freashie I was advised not to worry about giving it a massive land area at first untill it settles in as it feels more confidient in water, There are some freashies for sale on herptrader.com but they are in bulk Jan is the best time to buy price and availablity wise I have found IMO

i was gonna give it 2' of dry and 4' of water to start with and go half and half after a month or so. I might only have it in the 6 footer a couple of months and then move it to the bigger tank

My croc is always up on the land area, even during the day he will happily sit up there for us to look at him, he is up there almost all night long basking.
10x4x3 that will probably last 10years or so.
Got any pictures of your setup at the moment percy?

nah not yet i have been flat out with work at the moment im going to pick up the 6 footer tomorrow and set it all up so will put pics up once that is done. The other tank is in storage still im running out of room here at the moment between cars and snakes and soon crocs lol

I have had him for nearly six months I think. He was just over 400mm when I got him, now he is almost 600mm. I just took a quick video (the battery went dead half way through) of him eating from his land area, ill put it up in a sec.

ahh nice as i cant wait to see it for myself. Its growing pretty quick then but im pretty sure they start to slow down a bit when they hit 1m.

I just put it up then in exotics amphibians section.
He was growing very quickly, but after some advice from these forums I have slowed down his feeding and dropped the temps a few degrees so he is not growing so fast.

Cheers mate i will check it out now. Yeah they can grow quickly ive heard i guess its the same with snakes. Im pretty generous with the food for mine so i guess my freshie when i get him will out grow my tanks pretty quick lol
