Hi,
I havent handled my male coastal (about 2.5 getting close to 3m) in about 3 weeks now, in the past few days I have gone to handle him and he has striked at me, but thankfully missed. I have gone a period without handling him for about 3 weeks before, I don't know why he has gotten this protective? Could it be due to winter cooling? I'm now scared of getting bitten. Is there anything I can try?

Thanks For All Your Help

Eamonn

I'd try the hook aswell. When my big Male Olive was having a bad day, hook was 100% successful.

i had the same problem with my male coastal. i used to go in and hesitate picking him up which would make it worse for picking him up because he was thinking that i was food. cooler temps does make a difference. i picked my boy up last night and he was hissing and carrying on..just go with a hook and if you are worried about the bite just wear gloves. once he is out of the enclosure he should be fine.

pythons sometimes bite for no reason you can put your finger on.You wil learn this with experience. So your only snake is a nearly 3m long carpet and your scared of it? you could get a smaller snake till your confident with that, but i reckon youl be fine jsut grab that snake and drag W

I actually have four snakes, 3 coastals and a spotted. Im fine with handling my 5 year old female costal and my smaller male, but this guy for some reason I just get the shivers, when I go to pick him up. Ill hook him out to night and see how I go. Thanks for your help. Eamonn
