hey guys, i've got my vivarium all set up with the various parts needed, but. I'm having trouble reaching 31 degrees, i keep moving the thermostat prob around, it's currently underneath the heat lamp. i have a 150watt lamp with a 100watt bulb, my thermostat is 700watts i think.

what is your viv made out of, what are its dimensions..... i can suggest moving the probe further away from the heatsource down towards the cooler end

it's a "Glass Terrarium Advanced Reptile Habitat" (says that on the box :p) dimensions are: 18"x18"x24". It's for a SWCP hatchling. when i moved it underneath the heat source and put the blind up (it's a night/day thermostat with no night day switch??) but it's rising now, currently at 22.7 when i last checked.

perth is bloody cold, plus your using a glass terrarium so it will be subject to more heatloss then a plastic tub or wooden vivarium, im going to guess that you ither have a dalbarb or exoterra terrarium?

what brand/model is the thermostat being a hatchling you really want to provide the little guy with heat 24/7 preferably between 30-33 dagree's at the basking spot so if it is for example a microclimate day/night dimming thermostat it wont be providing much nighttime heat so may be worth getting another cheap thermo to keep the constant hotspot however keep the day/night dimmer as that will come in handy when you upgrade him in a year or so to his adult quarters

do you have a little digital thermometer the ones with the probe? also if you havent already run some branches up closer to the basking spot so he can get closer to the heat

It's a Microclimate B1 thermostat. I do have branches near the basking spot. yes i do have Thermometers with the 2 probes, i have one mid-height right sight and the other mid-height left side. I've moved the thermometer towards the cool side, im gonna give it 30 mins until i check on it again, is there anything i could do enabling me to use the stuff i got? saving me from buying other things. also could i have the lamp resting on the screen top? i've noticed the thing gets pretty hot.

cheers for the help bro.

should be able to rest the lamp on the top screen if you got a microclimate b1me they are a top of the range thermo i use them myself, problem is for a hatchy that needs 24/7 heat that thermo cannot provide as it has a magic eye and it will do the daytime temps fine but the max nightime reading on it is 25

thats the one b1/b1me, i cant really afford to buy another but i guess i have to.

cheers man.

just get a cheapy to do the job mate pm me and ill see if i can send you an url for a digital thermo that i use for my tubs 65 bucks delivered pretty nice little thermo to with a digital temp display
