Hi All,

We bought a yearling bredli for our son in Feb from SXR, he is eating well, has shed and has grown to almost a metre long.

The issue is we have only had him out of his enclosure once as (this will probably sound stupid to a lot of you) we are all pretty worried about him striking at us, then dropping him and hurting him.

What we would really love is someone who lives nearby to come over and show us how to pick him up and how to handle him.

If anyone lives near Wantirna in Victoria, can you please PM me to let me know if it would be possible to come over and give us a hand?

Thanks

Steve

Not stupid to feel like that, I think a lot of people feel that way at first, I know I sure did, and I've had my stimmie 2 months now and am only just confident about handling him. Have you tried getting him out with a hook to start with....then once you get braver, you can use your hand. Good luck.

just use a hook to get him out of the enclosure, most of the time they will be fine when out.

i have a spotted that used to strike first up but now i just reach in and grab her. I also have a two year old coastal carpet that i got a month ago i was nervous with her at fist anwadsq ue hook but no he trut me n i trut her n jut pick her up but i o let her kno it me firt

Badrapp, what happened to your keyboard or spelling in the second line? :p

also I should mention that if the snake does strike...Try not to flinh TOO much. It does come as a shock but the bite will be quick and only a warning. You are more likely to damage their jaws if you pull away hard.

Hi All,

Justdriftnby came over today (Thankyou so much). Pretty much open the cage and picked him up, just like that, it was amazing.

My wife and son held him for a long time and now both have the confidence to handle him.

He also gave us some great tips aswell.

Thanks everyone.

Take care.
