Hey guys, I have just purchased a Ministat 100 which seems like the best option for the size and needs of my enclosure and python.

I have set it up, yet in the instructions it says to put the Sensor 9 inches away from the heat source so it is measuring the air not direct heat, then it says to place it in the centre of the heat mat...

So where do I put the bloody thing?

I have highlighted the information below, please help :(

Instructions:
ON/OFF thermostat for controlling up to 100 watts of HEAT MATS ONLY. Size: 75x52x27mm (excluding cables. The ministat will orperate any mains voltage heater as listed below MINISTAT 100 Heat mats up to 100w Do not attempt to operate the ministat with a greater load than specified . To do so may result in damage to the ministat Connections Connect the main cable from your heater to the heater output of the ministat (fitted main sockets) using a suitable 13a plug (fitted with a 3a fuse) Connect the ministat to the mains supply using the fitted mains plug. please note the mains plug is fitted with a 3a fuse which must be replaced witha 3a fuse in the event of a faliure The mains cables fitted to the ministat are coloured coded as follows (brown - live_ (Blue-neutral) (green/yellow-earth) INSTALLATION Position the minisat sensor in the vivarium approxmately 225mm (9 inches) away from the heat source. This is to ensure the sensor is measuring air temperature and not direct heat. Always use a thermometer to check the temperature of the vivarium and adjust the ministat as required to give the required temperature. Adjustment A small flat blase screwdriver can be used to adjust the temperture control of the ministat. The ministat has a power indication led. When the led is lit power is being supplied to the heater. The led will go out when the desired temperature has been reached. When using a mini stat 100 the temperature probe should be placed in the centre of the heat mat. This ministat is fitted with a 13a plug and socket complying with EEC regulations. It is recommended that a 13a plug fitted with a 3a fuse is fitted to your heater. This then can be plugged into the ministat providing an easy method of disconnection if required. It is understood that some installation may require the removal of the ministat mains sockets for the connection to the heater. However this is not recommeneded. EXCEPTION TO THE GUARANTEE The guarantee will be void if the minisat has been misused. i.e overloaded, or physical damaged.

If you are using a heat mat. It is best to place it within the enclosure on top of the mat. The earlier statement probably applies to heat globes.

the heat matt is inside the enclosure because it is low wattage and the heat doesn't pass through the substrate efficiently
