I recently just saved a eastern blue tongue lizard from my giant dog

Im keeping him in a small tank (pictues later). Im feeding him banannas, apple and chicken for now.

I know the basics already but im just wondering if anyone could give me first hand as im not going to go all out all though i wont go cheaply either

Plus he is strangely tame for a wild although he will try to sneak a bite in once and a while but basically accepts anything

Any help would be exellent :D

(as i said will include pics of the setup and lizard this sarvo) :)

cheers

While its great that you saved the bluetongue it is illegal to keep it. First you need a license, which I am guessing you know, and second all reptiles need to be sourced from captive collections or the few licensed collectors in other states and territories.
I'd suggest you take it to Robert Johnson at South Penrith Vet (http://www.reptilevet.com.au/) if it needs attention or call Sydney Wildlife (02 94134300) or WIRES.

wild blueys are easy to handle doesnt mean its tame

how come u are keeping him in a tank is he injured? if not, u should release him somewhere els that your dog wont get him

it is illegal to keep reps from the wild thats all, if it is injured what are the injurys? you should take it to the vet asap if it was hurt at all and not all injurys can be visible

hope its ok :)

["Saving" generally means you have moved it from harm into safety, if your not sure how to care for it correctly, thats hardly saftey, I suggest you buy and read one of the many books before you care for one as a few weeks in inappropriate care can cause permanent damage to the animal]

[What are you calling small? is it heated?, I take it the BT is a Juvie? I hope it is... those foods arn't really ideal as a staple, lizards need foods with a high amount of calcium]

[You know the basics yet want help??? does't come much more basic than a Bluetongue?]

[I generally don't call animals strangely tame if they try to bite once and a while... they are calm creatures usually, and get calmer in colder weather, and thats not really by choice.]

Sorry to sound rude, but their are just so many holes in your post, if you did know the basics you would realise it was illegal to keep it and not in the best interests of the animal.
