Unfortunately due to a upcoming visit from my in laws all my herps are getting moved into the garage. Only problem being no window in the garage so i need to work out a lighting system purely to establish a photoperiod for them. Each tank has its own heating so its just a lighting drama Firstly can any one correctly advise how much light is required to establish a day/night scenario and also recommend a good lighting system that works for them

Mine are all in a windowless garage. The dragons, goannas, and skinks all have basking lights so this gives the room enough light for the geckos to know day from night. Generally around 16 hours day in summer and down to 6 hours winter. There are two double overhead fluoros for humans to see what going on, and these get switched on no matter if it's day or night by the basking lights. The herps seem to know what time of year it is.
