I just got a 6ft diamond python as my first snake have got tank pretty well set up did a lot of research.... heating,UV,etc
But i havnt got a hide box yet looking for ideas as no local pet shops sell one big enough. If people could post some pics up of what there using it would be greatly appreciated

Thanks Ryan

get a giant icecream tub and cut chunk outa the side to turn it into a cave. cheap, and it comes in many colours ^^

I use bird breeding boxes in some of my enclosures. They seem to work well and you can get them in big sizes.

Thinking of a hollowed out log cut in half or making a box of 12mm plywood with small and hinged roof. Its got to look good aswell

im using 2 kitty litter boxes that are ontop of one another, zip tied togeather through small holes drilled in them and a entrance cut out of the top one. will try and put a pic up for you.

I have a 6ft coatsal and a 5ft olive and i use a cardboard box and cut a hole out if the side and stick that fake grass on it so you dont have an ugly cardboard box in there. Its cheap and easy and when they decide they wana poo in there as my coastal does every time you just replace it.

heres a pic of the one for my olive. It's just a car sterio box.

I just use a terracotta pot. They are pretty cheap and wont get knocked around too much by the snake. Just lay it on a hard surface and hit a hole in it with a hammer. Sand the edges of the hole and bobs your uncle.

I just use the carton of beer. Its a Good excuse to my missus anyway.

:D and you can even turn these tubs upside down and place on the floor of enclosure for another placement option.

you can also make a decent hide thats very easy to clean / disinfect etc using the plastic pot plant water saucers with a side hole cut in.. or the decor lunch box with an entrance hole cut in etc.. anything thats easy to remove, easy to clean, functional and a good price is worth investigating..

my Darwin and Bredli love budgie nesting boxes and they can be upgraded to bigger sizes as they grow. They cost about $3-$10.

prob go with a large black bulk chicken tray thats plastic. Plastic would be best to clean disinfect.......... but it wont be a good insulater ? Might make plywood one when i have the time.
Also different subject if i use a log out of the bush and a bush rock in my setup do i have to soak them in water with diluted bleach for a day and let dry ?

Gift boxes are cheap to buy and replace when needed also. That's all I use. My baby snakes have kiddy boxes whilst my adults get something a little more glamorous. I have Little Mermaid for my bredli's, gold for my olives and Xmas boxes for my carpets :D

I'm building wooden hides at the moment for their insulation value (particularly with diamonds if you are only giving them so many hours of heat per day so they can go into the hide when the heat switches off and maintain their warmth). Pretty easy to make just out of 9mm mdf (medium density fibreboard). Cut to size with hand saw. Quick sand. Pre-drill holes and screw together.

As a result I should have some plastic hides left over in a bit and that arboreal hide looks great. Thanks for the idea.

Really just replying to steal ideas. My coastals have an MDF box and a log. The box looks like crap but I love the poses:D
