It's winter... Your lucky it has eaten at all. There is no 100% way of sexing by eye.

Yeah I know, but I haven't found any herb vet near my home yet.
Just wondering if it got more chance to be a female

Hi Simon,

Nothing like getting a new addition and wanting to show it off. As has been mentioned it is very difficult, if not impossible to sex your lizard just by looking at pics.

I don't want to rain on your parade my friend but I think you should be informed that whether intentionally or unintentionally you have been ripped off. The depression of the spine just in front of the lizard's back legs indicate that it is suffering from what is known as metabolic bone disease (MBD) which is a result of lack of calcium in the lizard's diet and/or insufficient exposure to uv lighting but more often a combination of both.

You can address the condition by providing a nutrient rich diet with a calcium supplement in conjunction with reasonable exposure to uv lighting but from what I can see in the picture you will never reverse it. The information that you have provided regarding the lizard having no interest in food suggests the disorder is in an advanced stage and it is very likely that it will not get any better and will deteriorate further over time despite any attempts you may take to address the condition.

Type metabolic bone disease in the search box at top of the thread and/or Google Metabolic Bone Disease in Blue Tongue Skinks and you'll get a better understanding of what it's about.

Personally I'd return it to the seller and request they swap it for an animal in better condition or ask for my money back.

Cheers,

George.

I was thinking the same thing but was having trouble tactfully putting my thoughts into words.

Well said George.

cheers,
Dave.

Thank you George ,I think you are right. The seller told me he only feed bluey dry food only.I was thinking the spine was maybe because of she has a empty stomach. The seller probably won't return this for me otherwise he won't sell this at the first place, but I will give a try.
anyway,I am gonna start feed this poor bud more calcium and offer him a hide. She got a good size but still young, She might still have hope if I make everything right for her.
thanks again!
