Thanks for all the responses. This what I'm talking about...see photos. Thermostat is Habistat Pulse Proportional from Herp Shop. Ceramics are 15oW. Temps are fine. The ceramic fitting is the one used on the cords you buy pre wired from herp shop or any pet store.

Colin,

I initially bought the same ceramic fitting and the ceramic heat emitter wouldn't screw into it. It would fall out. I took it back and we tried every single fitting in the pet store with every ceramic heat emitter they had and not one would hold.

Wow, that doesn't look good Choco, I can see why you posted! Looks like a big fire risk, maybe someone can suggest something.

Cracks, I had no idea you could get the industrial grey silicon in a tube, maybe that could be applied to my current cord to help protect it...any ideas if that would help? (If that doesn't work I will look into getting some of that kettle cord and possibly changing the fitting.

Thanks heaps cracks and falconboy,

I'm thinking the fibro cement tiles. I already have new fittings the same as the photo colin posted but a different brand that hold the ceramics nice and tight.

I got some of the 'Selleys Silicone 401 Industrial Grade' silicon and put it over the damaged electrical cord. What I liked on the instructions was that the silicon was good in temps up to 203deg!!! (It will even stand short periods of 260deg). I was very surprised at how hard and probably brittle the heat had made the plastic covering the electrical cord!

I can smell that its got a vinegar curing agent to it but I don't know if there any toxic smells associalted with its curing. How long do people think I should I wait until its safe to put Snakey back in? (The silicon is still milky looking and its currently being cooked by the heater)

Thanks for suggesting it cracks!

I have to decide whether to leave him in his click clack or put him back into the enclosure tonight. I would leave him in the click clack, but I'm concerned that now he's 119cm and bit too big for it, he will get overly stressed.
