Is my bearded dragon gay ???

So i had my dragons out running around the reptile room yesterday, and turned around to see 2 of them, which i thought were both female:?, doing the deed..

Is it possible for females to get a black beard?? and could this be a dominance thing going on between them?

The high yellow one i've assumed was a male whilst the 2 pale ones i always thought were female and hoped to breed them with the yellow one. I've attatched some pics for the voyeurs out there and will try get some vent pics for comparison..

Put the beardys on a table and lift their tail for the photo
hard to tell from these pics but im not an expert

It's easier to tell when you lift the tail up a bit and take the pics from the back (he he, you got in before me Josh). The middle one looks like a female, the other 2 are hard to tell, far right one shows hint of maybe male.

If i was goin to say either way id say the one on the right is male
but someone else on here should b able to tell for sure

Could you see the hemipenes of the one attempting to copulate? That would probably be a sure sign of a male lol. I dunno about the "mounting' behaviour, but I have heard of dominant females head bobbing and acquiring a black beard.

Ok well next time if they attempt to do it again have a look and see if you can see any one of the two hemipenes of the 'male' attempting to enter the females vent. Otherwise I'm sure there are plenty of experienced beardie keepers who would be willing to give you advice based on the information and pics you have provided.

That definitely looks like 'doing the deed'. My females often blackbeard while basking, & show signs of dominance toward other females, but never anything like your pics. Was there headbobbing & stomping of front feet before the act?
The first 2 photos have more pronounced femoral pores for their age, which could indicate 2 males, but I don't usually go by them.
But I feel that your one pale female who's on top is definitely a male - just a humble opinion

Yes, females will do the "deed" as a sign of dominance, much the same way as female dogs can "hump" other dogs.

Wow Jason - you've been in this a lot of yrs, have u seen it happen much? Not being sarcastic, it fascinates me with their behaviours - will have to keep an eye out (& no I'm not a sicko:lol:!) There was a thread the other day on exactly the same thing, must be fairly common?

I just didnt find it funny.. at this time of the morning i like to laugh,, sorry i thought it was sad. My girl at home is dominate too, and humps the males head lol. See, its not always a case of mans world..Its good to see a little bit of female dominance
