The reptile vet is 2 hours away, the pet shop we bought him is 1.5 hours away… The tip of his tail was damaged when we bought him, pet shop said it was normal and that he might lose a bit of it. He has lost the very tip about 2mm, but it doesn't look like its clearing up? We have only had this guy 2 weeks yesterday… any advice?

It is skin that did not shed properly off the lizard, not really "normal" but it does happen quite abit.

He has lost another 5 mm, so about 1.5cm in total. It looked better yesterday after that bit came off, but today looks like it is happening again… I bathed it in a hydrogen peroxide solution yesterday and today (as per directions on a website). I'm so worried that its tail rot…. Anyone know if there is anything else I should be doing? Other than a reptile vet - 2 hour drive…and impossible this week as I have work and 2 kids….

I'm so worried about the poor little fella...

Personally l feel hp is a little bit tough Chlorhexadine or one of its derivitives would be "heaps" better imo plus you can use it on your family, it doesn't burn tissue like a lot of antiseptics and it DOESN'T sting in fact it so good its used in brain surgery and is available from "most" chemists it just costs a little extra (looks like cherry lemonade) solar 17 ~B~

Tell the pet shop what's happening to the lizard they sold you. Could you possibly pm me the pet shop name?

Ok, thanks. The hp I got was already in solution 3g per 100ml, so I thought that was probably weak enough? Hope so...

Sure. I figure they won't be that helpful considering they said it was normal, & all the lizards there were the same, we got the best one.

The first pic is 2 days ago, next one today - although it looks better, its starting to get the 'kink' again which slowly shrivelled. I been wetting it with clean water once a day in case its an incomplete shed, but it doesn't seem to be helping..

I rang the pet shop, they are happy for us to take the lizard in so they can have a look, but its over an hours drive, and we can't do that until next weekend… hope it doesn't get much worse in the meantime...
