wow thats intersting. hmmm makes me think of putting my male in earlier with the girl

Keep her warm as she has just eaten.

Think of all matings as a 'collecting of sperm' by the female. Ovulation does not occur until months after the first mating, and does not occur during copulation. Chances are the male's sperm may not yet be fertile so definitely continue on with your cooling over Winter.

alialiali,

i was speaking to a few breeders and they mentioned all you need is a cold snap like the one we have atm in birsbane to get them all horney.

also heard of some geckos starting to bump uglies atm too, i noticed my bearded dragons going at it the other day.. but didnt think anything of it untill i had a bit of a chat.

Bloody awesome Jungles by the way, particularly the one in the centre! :D

her last eggs hatched on 07/01/09 only 3 months ago, isn't the males sperm always fertile?? yeah thanks the one in the middle is the female

thats funny just like the trees in brisbane never know when to flower

Most information i have read has suggested the males are the ones that need to be cooled, moreso than females, in order to reproduce successfully, thus i presume their sperm is infertile during the warmer months. Although the latest info i've read suggested it is the other way around. In any case, it's best to give both a definitive cooling regime just to be sure.
