Man that is frustrating, and the problem is that you would not be able to teach them any different.

Some of that was so stupid. Where the hell do they get so much crap from.

Well here in Sydney we have an awesome Vet in Terri Bellamy at Austral. I was sitting there with having a chat to another bloke who had a snake and i had Thelma my Forest Dragon there.
This huge old bird comes out with daughter and i still have no idea who had more facial hair when she walked up to the guy, looked in the container and said "oh god snake what do you want to touch that thing for" She then walks up to me and i put my arms around the tub when she went " Oh god thats ugly what the hell is that" So i said "It probably thinks your pretty fugly too and if it could speak it would tell you to have a shave" She walked out in a huff, but that sort of incident is pretty common at veterinary clinics. Alot of people carry on when they see your tub and know there is a herp in there.

i had a great laugh reading all the carp written there but i had a better laugh reading what someone....... called 121 wrote on the last page :lol: wonder if it was anyone we know :wink:

Mick, I'm just having a look in there and I think the majority of members there are kids. Maybe we should ask why there's no Herp Board and start educating the lil darlin's

A little old ladies cat would be a good feed for my coastal I think it would keep him going for a week or 2 till i find another one .

I read the rat thread, and yes, it's utter nonsense. Getting involved in the discussion is a great idea, but please, for the sake of the herp community, don't go in there raving about how you love to torture rats by feeding them live to goannas and watch them rip the heads off etc. We have a bad enough reputation as it is and we need to do whatever we can to keep it clean. Any communication you have with non herps reflects on our community as a whole and there are already activists who would love to see the private keeping of reptiles banned. This has already happened in some parts of the world, and the movement has big supporters in Australia, including the RSPCA as Steve Irwin (yes, you might want to rethink your stance on them if you're currently a herp who likes either). We don't need to give scum like the RSPCA any more ammo than they already have. Going in there screaming "you guys are complete morons" may be accurate, but it doesn't help and just makes us look like crazy illigitimate children. Calmly and politely explaining the situation will help us rather than creating enemies for ourselves.
