Mercury vapor bulbs

Will a 100watt MVB be an overkill for a single beardy in a 1300x700x600 tank?

I would rather use a MVB than a heat globe and UV tube but dont want to overheat the tank.
I guess good ventilation will be required?

If the whole top is mesh it will be fine , depending on the ambient temp of the room I guess.

I use that same wattage for beardies in a tank a bit smaller than that

I reckon it will be fine with some ventilation. I'd be putting in 2 thermometers, one in the hot end and one in the cool end. Keep an eye on the temps until they have settled.

Yes it will be fine.
I use it on all my Frill Necks and my adult Beardies and have not had one problem with them.

I forgot to add, my beardy only comes inside over winter so ambient temps are generally pretty low.

How far do you put the globe from basking locations Niall?
