Hi Everyone,

I am in desperate need to identify a snake that has been lurking around my garden and under my board walk for about a week or so.

I am terrified of snakes and have 2 kids, which I cannot keep indoors all day every day, so I would really appreciate your advice on this snake and whether I should be concerned or not.

I did my best to take a few photos but I know, they are not the best.

It has a yellow belly, a small head and was over a metre in length.

Please help.

Sorry...should have told you that hey!!!

Burpengary, Qld - Outer northern suburb of Brisbane.

I am so worried that this may be a brown snake!!

My partner has just told me, it might have been an idea to put what colour it was..as the photos are not clear!! Sorry!!

It is sort of fawn/brownish.

from those pics to me it looks like a common tree snake....
which is harmless...

did it look like it has big eyes compared to its head size?

do you or your neighbours have a fish pond?

Its a green tree snake, definately not a Brown. They are completely harmless, nothing to worry about at all.

Yep it a green tree snake harmless Just leave it alone nothing to be worried about We have a pet one and she is so nice and gentile

Yes, it's eyes were big compared to it's small head.

it's most likely going to eat your fish then

if you are still sketchy about having it around call an animal relocator

100% Tree Snake. 100% harmless.
Your luckly to have it around.
If it was me, I would keep the the fish pond stocked with small goldfish to keep it around.

Yeah definately a Green Tree Snake. . . they're awesome little fellas. . .but they release a smell which is close to what rotten eggs smell like. . . just don't annoy them too much lol

But these guys are harmless. . . it's good that you didn't kill him either :)
