I am very new to bearded dragon owning, I have a new encloure which has a UV light and two heating lights on blue, one red, and a digital thermometer, It seems to be keeping temperature very well and stays steady (as in no random spikes or drops in temp) so do I really need to go buy a thermostat?? A picture of my enclosure is is my albums

T/Stat

I prefer not to use a t/stat if I don't need toas it limits the chance of cooking animals if it fails.

well id be buying a thermostat , whats the basking spot temp at ? whats the cool end temp at ?

basking spot is 35c but i think the thermometer is a little out because i tried using the probe in my mouth ( i know it sounds strange just wanted to see how accurate it is)

how is putting the probe in your mouth going to tell you anything, and i never use a thermostat i just set up the enclosure a while before i get the animal and play around untill it is right using different bulbs and distances

any thermomoter no mater what the type should give a similar reading, but according the temp it showed I should be dead so i'm going to replace the battery or buy a new thermometer, i dont think it's accurate. by placing it in my mouth i could compare it to the accuracy of another thermometer, and i know the body temp for the human should be at least 36.5 and the thermometer said 32c, which is impossible!!

do u have a basking light [ a basking globe , or a sun-glo bulb ? ]
anyway back to your subject , yes i would buy a thermostat . i have 2 one for my sunglo light for day time and one for my night infered light . i even went one step more and have my lights on a 24/7 timer .
for all of my lizards and dragons .

i have a 24/ timer at the moment, I have a UV light, a short tubular bulb in the hot spot (I dont know the correct name for it) sun glo does ring a bell and a blue moonlight bulb that is only 25watt, the hot spot is sitting between 32 - 35c Mostly 35c and cool end mid to high twenties

but i dont really seem to need to the night light yet it's still pretty warm at night. everything seems to be going well, he's very active and repsonsive, eating well and pooing at the exact same time each morning,

when that stimulus payment comes through i will probly invest in a thermostat, will see how things go.
