Thanks alot guys.
I just spent 15mins on the phone with the chick from pets paradise. She continued to tell me that the globe she gave me had UVB. After I told her to read the box, she then changed her tune saying it only had UVA but thats all I needed, and that I didnt need UVB. She told me not to believe everything I read online. I think I'll believe practising herp keepers as opposed to the 19yo checkout chick at pets paradise lol.

Anyways, I've decided not to go back there for advice. After googling I found extreme pets in liverpool which seem to be reptile specialists, so I'll go there tomorrow.

With the UVB lighting, someone earlier posted it won't effect my temps much. Just wondering if it generates much heat and if I need to put a cage around the light??? We felt royally ripped off paying almost $40 for the last cage.

In the meantime I'm making the plastic tub and flyscreen as suggested by nudge to get him his natural sunlight for the timebeing.

Even if it isn't for a long period I figured that I could use it as a cricket keeper afterwards

hehe ud be suprised how handy those tubs can be and yes pets paradise is useless nomatter what ur buying very expensive and 9/10 know nothing about what they are selling especially the animals,

as for dont belive what u read online well try a vet even mine told me to let em sun outside for some real sun even with a uvb light.

i get my new uvb light thurs so cant help you with the temps but the temps you are geting are fine i guess itll come down to your choice of placement it will need to be within 30cm of basking spot but as far from the heat lamp as you can get this will do 2 things 1 light up the enclosure better, 2provide uvb at the basking spot where it will be taken in the best and 3 minamise the heat sent off from both lights.

i use a plastic socket for my uv light and havnt had any problems with it so it should heat up about as much as an equilivent energy saver bulb i would imagin and they run at MUCH lower temps then old school bulbs

be very careful putting a dragon out in a plastic box, they heat up really quickly.

Look into getting a flexarium, and always make sure its half in the shade.
(theyre a full mesh enclosure, so unless ur beardy runs out of shade it wont overheat)

u might find them at a petshop, otherwise herpshop sell a similar product. (look in the enclosures and habitats section)

i use a birdcage as said above but ur little friend needs to be big enough it cant escape lol

I have been looking at the Oz Bright UV Heat & Light, which provides UVA UVB and heat all in one globe.
I figure it'll be easier and cheaper to use one of these instead of getting a UVB light, another light fitting and another light cage.
Anyone have experience with these? I've read good things on another thread: http://www.aussiepythons.com/forum/general-discussion-42/oz-bright-uv-heat-light-26856/
Online I have found a 100w and a 160w. I assume that the 100w would be the right one for me as it seems to be the lowest one?

i dont know tbh depends on your enclosure and wether you can add vents/exhaust fans as mine is a fishtank with false foam walls side and back where my light was and i have a 125wt murcery vapor bulb which at 12" from basking spotheated it above 50c (max for my thermomoter) and in the end i just switched back to 2 seperate bulbs downside was my stepdaughter had goten her hands on my uv bulb and droped it lol

my stepdaughter had goten her hands on my uv bulb and droped it lol

Anyways, I think I am armed with enough info to finish this project tomorrow.
