I always check my womas enclosure for poo.
the last 2 have been hard white clay like.

I did keep it aside to take a photo but my partner thought it was clay and mushed it down to just white powder. moron. lol

Anyway, I've read that this can happen and not to worry but I wanted to confirm it.
She's 4 months old and fed on p/rats once a week.

Pretty sure that what you're describing is the urate. I think its like our urine but humans cant excrete it in that form so instead we excrete it as urine.

You could possibly try tasting it to see if it is bad. lol . Sorry it is normal don't worry.

Wow. I'm kinda shocked you didn't know what urates were. Get the book keeping and breeding Australian pythons. I think everyone should read it BEFORE they get pet pythons. You are not alone though. Some clown a few months back posted that the white stuff was the rodents bones

I will be "that guy" and ask, has your snake eaten any clay recently? ;)

well excuse my ignorance. i suppose you knew it all before getting your first reptile

i've only had her 2 and a bit months and I'm in the middle of moving house and I haven't got my books on hand. Yes, I do own that book.

Next time I'll be sure to get them couriered over to me and read them before I ask a question here.

Don't let some of the answers here put you off asking questions. Some of the members here are known for being a little terse but they mean well. No one knows it all and it's a constant learning process for everyone. Your question just happened to be one on fairly common knowledge. Read up and don't be afraid to ask questions. :)

Once you get to know Snowman you will like him. Sorry if my bit of fun added to you feeling bad I just couldn't resist the joke.

Lets face it, Snow can be a (insert expletive here) but he knows his (insert expletive here) when it comes to snakes ;)

Yes I read keeping and breeding Australian pythons several times. I also had read Barker and Barkers pythons of the world volume one numerous times and done heaps off Internet research about keeping pythons. Plus various other books.
Negligence is no excuse in a court of law. Nor is it acceptable with keeping animals IMHO. For me I like to be informed before hand to give my animals the best homes possible. We all learn a lot once we get our first animals. However the basics should already be covered before hand.
Its not like your animals were at risk or anything. I was just surprised that you didn't know.
Im not a fan of the acquire first and ask questions later type keeper. I have never been and will never be in favor of such husbandry practices. But I accept that it is a method favoured by many.
Really I'd hope new keepers understand slough cycle, poop and urates, temperature gradients, food size, what is required for digestion and an understanding of what happens if they are too warm or too cold while digesting, why replacing water regularly is important, what substrates are acceptable, why snakes need appropriate sized hides, various heating methods and the pro's and cons of each, the basic enclosure requirements for the species being kept, etc etc.

Hahaha. :)
Agreed. There is no malice behind my words. I just don't sugar coat anything and I speak straight to the points. Google aspergers if you want an insight into my awkward mind. I have a strange very dry sense of humour that gets me in trouble at times too.
