If you are looking for a LEGAL Native Gecko species that actively barks and makes entertaining noises. Try Barking/ Thicktail Geckos.
There are numerous breeders in Vic and they rarely go for over-the-top prices.

house gecko are on licence in nsw i forgot about flowerpot snake red eared slider turtles are illegal in aus so you cant have them at all unlese you have them illegaly

You won't be able to legally keep asian house gecko's in Victoria. If you want a cheap gecko off license go for a marbled gecko.

Thanks Rocket, that's the answer i'm after. I don't want an Asian House Gecko.
What about the Marble Gecko? I've got a friend giving me his but it's still young.

no, cant keep em but they are not protected

Marbled geckos do not really bark, they can make noises but are reluctant to and will usually drop their tail if scared.

I'll have to treat him special then.
Don't want him dropping his tail and stressing him.
How much are barking geckos?

Hatchlings range from $60-$90ea and Adults $80-$150.

Thicktails range in different colours and patterns depending on locality and genetics. Some can be Hypomelanistic. Some can be patternless etc.

They are a very popular species and do extremely well in captivity but are intolerant of high temperatures.
