i know what it means, i agree with you it dosent mean denying them basic rights, thats what i was saying in reply to the person who said snakes dont need stimulation and said dont compare them with a dog, person etc. lol

if snakes don't have any need for stimulation, have no memory and have very little brain, then why do mine always start looking and hanging off their logs the night before i feed them, they know it's feed time, also why do they strike at live pray and can just sit and watch dead pray for ages, as for the minced rabbit, everybody to their own, for me, i'm with "no one", how boring for your snake and you if all it gets is minced rabbit, but all the best to everybody that use it, i'd like to know how the snakes go after feeding on it for long periods of time and not just a few snakes from 1 person, but a cross range of breeds and from different states, it would be interesting to see how it goes, for me, i'll stick to my mice and rats, frozen, freshly killed and live, and if ever qld change their laws on rabbits, i'll be breeding them also for food, i like a change, why not my snakes....

cheers,
steve........

I belive there are 3 main instincts a snake will act on... Feeding, reproduction, and self preservation. I totally agree an aborial snake should have branches to climb on, but if you think its because it enjoys it, is having fun, or is getting excersise.. your kidding yourself. It uses the branches because they may provide camoflauge (self preservation) or might provide a food source (feeding) not to satisfy some human based emotion like "fun". A snake will use branches because it makes survival scence to do so, not for "stimulation". You will find that is a snake doesnt need to feed, or thermo regulate, or mate, it will be hidden away somewhere basically unactive, not out having fun, or climbing for the hell of it.
NEVER did I say that a snake sould be kept in a plain box enclosure with nothing in it. A snake needs to have its basic survival insticts satisfied to be healthy and produce. These include a scence of security (self preservation), which might call for a hide box, branches etc.
Once again, a snake lives its life reacting to instincts. Not feeling emotions. They simply can not feel happiness, or have fun, or feel depressed, or sad. If an aborial snake has no branches it might very well be insecure and feel unsafe, thats a natural instinct, and its health may suffer from this form of stress. Its not because its sad or bored because it has no branches to play on.
A snakes brain is only big and complicated enough to be thinking "what do i need to do to survive and to reproduce)"That is it. They are incapable of most known emotions.

For that person that said you are taking your snake out in the wind and rain, in my experience snakes are generally not out and about when its windy or raining. Are you sure that your own (human) interest in experiencing new things is what is best for your snake? If wild snakes are anything to go by, Im sure your snake would rather be in a hole or under a log than out in the rain and wind.

Anyway.. let me know how to get some of those rabbit sausages!

I can take the snags or leave them but I will probably wait until I hear peoples comments after their own purchases. I know my carpet does the big squeeze on all the dead prey I feed him and I have been lucky (or very skilled but probably the former) that I haven't had rat guts splattered everywhere. So my question is will I end up with sausage all over the enclosure as I would think it will cop the big squeeze as well.

i would love to use this feed
i have not herd of someone doing it up here in wonderful sunny queensland but if i did i would be gettin it strait away

how the hell do you know? as for wind and rain, i didnt say i make it stay out in storms or anything and not often either, but wild snakes get rained on and feel wind/fresh air bringing new scents.

I won't be feeding anthing like this until the long term effects are shown. Also if they are so much better and cheaper why aren't all the big american breeders feeding these??

the problem i can see is digestion

i mean, u know rodents work just fine. any change u make to anything is a risk unless its proven beyond doubt first

ive got no problems with others feeding them but ill stick to breeding rodents - im guessing rodent breeding is even cheaper than the sausages
