Just need to know if rough scaled pythons are a 'restricted' listed species in Queensland.

Cheers

dont think so mate- only GTPs an Womas are limted in the number you can have on a basic licence.

as far as i am aware they are not. only restricted pythons are gtp and womas.

i'm not 100% but i heard talks that womas were being removed from the restricted list, can anyone who actually does know confirm that?

Funny that, as womas are a basic listed species here in SA and roughies are for specialist keepers. My womas will feel special with their soon to be new title as a 'restricted' species.

Rough scaled pythons don't naturally occur in QLD, i think this is the reason they aren't on the restricted "list"

if you have any more then 2 woma's you will need a restricted permit here in qld

I can't get a straight answer even from the Qld EPA. I think I'll just apply for the import permit for my entire collection and then the recreational wildlife licence when I move and see what happens.

Mate I am 100% sure that I am right in what I am about to say because I have nearly read the act back to front with all these type questions comming up all the time. The awnsers are all there on the QLD EPA website but you just have to know where to look. Also check out other threads on QLD licence as we have pionted people in this direction before.

The short awnser is yes you can keep, breed & sell Rough Scaled Pythons (morelia carinata) under a QLD Recreational Wildlife Licence.
This is because they are under the QLD Nature Conservation (wildlife) Regulation 2006 they are not listed as obviously not extinct but also not endangered/vulnerable or near threatened wildlife, SO THEREFORE MUST BE LEAST CONCERN REPTILE & that means that you can keep them on a Qld Recreational Wildlife Licence as that is what it says on the licence.

If anybody wants to argue with me that is fine, & I should apply for a ranger status ( & PAID) for they don,t even know what they are talking about & different rangers from different offices seem to give people different awnsers.

When they get sorted it will be good.
Cheers Ian.

Threatened in Queensland relates to threatened in that state. As roughies aren't native to Queensland they are fine on a recreational. Womas on the other hand are threatened / rare in the state hence their inclusion on the restricted list.

By the way threatened in Queensland does not mean they will necessarily show up on the threatened list. Others species not listed but deemed as threatened or rare can be included by EPA at their discretion.

No It has not changed. You are allowed to keep two Womas & that is all. Check my info out on QLD EPA SITE.

can you point me in the direction that mentions womas? i can't find it in the current legislation, i know it was there in the old revisions.

But it is in legislation as I said, you tell me how they can change it. What because someone told you so . people are too too gullibale to hearing what they want to hear.

http://www.legislation.qld.gov.au/LEGISLTN/SUPERSED/N/NatureConWiR06_001_060824.pdf

This is the website for the nature conservation act 2006, that has been mentioned MANY, MANY times on APS.
It took us a lot of searching to find it.
It lists everything that is classed as Near threatened wildlife -( Schedule 5 , page 60 onwards) - it says it in BLACK AND WHITE.
Which means that you CANNOT keep more than 2 threatened wildlife on a QLD recreational Wildlife Lic - ie. you can only have 2 womas or 2 GTPS etc - NOT 2 of each......

Also BHP's are not longer restricted - it pays to do your research and not just go on hearsay.......

So... you are saying... they can't change the restriction status of an animal.... THEN you go and say a different species are 'no longer restricted'?

Both your alternate personalities seem to have an attitude problem :/ Its like you are personally deeply offended by every post made.

Anyway... back to the OP... I was also interested in getting a RSP... Im in QLD. :) Doesn't appear there is anything against them. Im hoping they stay that way, they seem like they would make a really nice addition to a collection :D Do you have one already?

Sorry but I don't see your point Ian. Legislation can be changed. Amendments are made all of the time to legislation. The version which specifically mentioned womas that I have was dated July 1988 the current version available on the DERM website is dated 2008 so obviously some changes have been made.

And I agree wholeheartedly. People are to quick to believe whatever they hear.

Mate We never said a species is no longer restricted. I DONT"T know where you got this one from.

YOU should all check your own rules.
