I started working on this albino today. I cut some obviously dead tissue off and wiped her down with a "weak tea", (in color strength) solution of betadine. I then put her on a sterile hospital pad to absorb moisture and leaking, infectious bodily fluids.

At a minimum I am thinking this pad should be changed again before she is put up for the night.

I was wondering if spraying the betadine solution on her wouldn't be a better idea. That way it could get down in the nooks and crannies, under the scales that have yet to sluff off and maybe into the areas that are still reasonably intact.

I assume you need to treat her whole underside at this point to prevent the bacteria from spreading to and possibly worsening marginal and undisturbed areas. About the first 2 feet of her, from her head back ranges from good, to starting to show signs of discoloration.

I am also wondering if 2 cleaning/wiping/spraying treatments a day would be too much moisture at this point.

As well, I am wondering if, after treatment(s) I could blow her dry to help reduce any residual moisture before putting her back on a new sterile pad or up for the night.

Any comments on 2 treatments a day?

How about on spraying?

Or on blowing her dry?

Thank You,

Scott

Have you taken the snake to a reptile vet?

I think I read that too much moisture can cause the scale rot to further spread, I'm not sure on the blow drying though.

20ml betadine
2l warned water.
In a tub so the solution is deep enough to cover the snakes body.
Bath for 20 -30mins daily.
Towel dry.
Antibiotics injection every 3 days. For 8 weeks.
