he is still pretty small so would i even be able to see them if he has mites? i would have to look pretty closley and he has pretty darck scaleys so this might be a little tricky

then try checking the bottom of the water bowl like a few have suggested that might be a bit easier if its a dark bowl, try pooring the water into a white container.

as has been stated previously.. If your snake has mites and has been soaking in the water bowl, its very common to see small black dots in the water.. If you use a white water bowl they are more noticeable.

Also mites are often more noticeable under the chin near where the jaw stretches.

yep, i say mites too, sorry to say dude. Get some "Callington - Top of Descent" aircraft insecticide. It is the best stuff to rid them immediately. Won't harm snakes at all. Spray on to clean cloth and wipe down snake, take care around the head though, don't get in eyes, mouth. Normally only young snakes will get mites. when treating the animal use white paper on the floor of enclosure to see the dead mites and eggs. replace paper frequently until all gone

I have, in the past had two juvenile tigers die due to TOD toxicity. It is not normally toxic to snakes but to say it won't harm snakes at all is not correct, it can do harm in some cases.

Why are people jumping to the conclusion of mites? My partners atherton sometimes sits in her water bowl and she has never had mites...your snake may be doing it for any number of reasons. I am not ruling out mites completely here, but also what other people have said could be options as well. Process of elimination I guess to figure out which reason is the most correct one for your snake

I think some snakes just like bathing imo. Mine bath's after a feed, and sometimes he just like to sit in there probably to cool off or maybe he just likes water cause it's relaxing (why not? we relax in water), and there's no evidence of mites.
