Hello everyone, I posted in this forum about 6/7 weeks ago about my spotted who escaped, then returned home gravid and subsequently laid 19 eggs...
Anyway I have candled the eggs and all seem to be healthy but they are now at their 60th day of incubation.

Everything I have read says this is too long so my question is what should I do???
Should I manually pip all the eggs even though none have begun to hatch?
Should I change the temp at all to induce hatching?
Should I just keep waiting and hope they don't just forget to come out?
Thanks for your help guys,
Casa

Im sorry but for some reason the photo uploader isnt working. There are a few that are beginning to discolour a bit but they still have live snakes inside. When candling them, I can even see the spots on the baby when it moves.
Also, the shells are very thin. When candling one egg, it began to leak from a small hole in its underside. I imagine this is from too much humidity so I have since allowed more fresh air to move into the incubator.
I cleaned the hole and closed it with paper towel and it seems fine again.
Some eggs are beginning to dimple a bit and some have traces of mold on them, but even these have live ones inside... they just wont hatch!

Temps play a big part in times . what are the temps ?
The lower the temps the longer it may take to hatch ....
If they are dimpling , its sounds like they are close to hatching .

temps are important as dicky stated.
at 60 days they would be close......
if their moving in the egg's their fine.
I would pip them...........BUT ive done it a number of times.
PHOTO'S would help.
you need to down size your photo's to allow them to be loaded.
I think its 1140x860 or similar size.

Sorry I forgot you asked the temps, I've kept them at between 30 and 31. I've been told this is about right??? We've had some really hot days up here lately and unfortunately they did get up to 32.5 one day. I hope that didn't stress them too much. I'll keep trying to get a pic up...

And Mungus, if I were to pip them, what is your preferred method? Do you know of any sites with pics etc. so I could do it myself (obviously having never done it before). And after pipping, should the hatchlings be washed at all? left with the remains of their egg? Put on dry substrate or damp paper towel?
Sorry to ask so many stupid questions, but I'm trying to give them the best chance. I wasn't expecting my single snake to become a mum!

still trying to get a picture up:

if you were to pip them, leave them in their eggs to come out on their own accord, dont pull them out. Make sure one of the snakes has pipped b4 you start slitting the eggs tho, Do it with manicure scissors, pinch the egg softly so you have an "excess" bit of shell. Then make a small incision in whick to slide the scissors into, then make a slit or a v flap. They will come out once theyare ready .

I would give the same advice as chickensnake. Definately leave the snakes in the eggs to come out of their own accord. Let the hatchlings stay in the egg and absorb the yolk. With pipping the eggs I usually wait till half to two thirds have slit the egg themselves before assisting the rest. Don't stress they will come when they are ready.

Once one slits the egg i always slit the rest..Ive heard from a few people that there clutches have taken a little longer then usuall..They generally start hatching around 55-58days so ur only a few days behind..Temperature has a huge effect on when they hatch, cooler they will take longer, however you say they were keeped around 30-31c..That is correct..Be a little more patient and hopefully in a few days you see those little heads..

Thanks for the encouraging words guys, I guess I'm just a bit keen to see them out.
I see one egg might have a slight slit forming if I look really closely so fingers crossed they are doing their thing properly.
Still not sure what to do with them after they hatch but I guess I'll play it by ear...
Thanks everyone!

we hope... lol

Within the last hour a little head has popped out! Can only really see his nose though so I'm not sure if he's 100% spotted... although I'm guessing he is, I've never seen another spotted around here (I'm in a built up suburb in Cairns)

excellent !!
the rest will follow.
you did very well to get them this far.
Now get the hatchie rack going and have the pinkies ready to go after their first shed.
